Every time they've been on telly i've watched, plus my Granda's a big City fan and he says he's been consistently brilliant this season."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

So because he's not at a high profile club he's deemed not good enough?Originally posted by thesilverfoxlfc View PostIts easy to stand out in a **** team if your half decent player which Barton is doing at City
Never heard of players coming from lesser clubs before going on to bigger clubs and making a name for themselves?"Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Theres a reason why he's not at a big clubOriginally posted by Marky18 View PostSo because he's not at a high profile club he's deemed not good enough? Never heard of players coming from lesser clubs before going on to bigger clubs and making a name for themselves?
He'll never play for a TOP CLUB IMO he's not good enough to match Scholes,Gerrard,Alonso,Cesc,EssienWhen you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

Yes but he doesn't look good enough to do that he isn't excellent week in week out, he is mainly average. He is stupidly over rated and never good enough for us. He has no way near the ability and drive and skill and attacking power Gerrard has, City or Everton is his level, not Liverpool, we can do so much better (we hopefully will have 4 better midfielders by the end of the month with Gerrard, Alonso, Momo and Mascherano) so why we would waste money on him?Originally posted by Marky18 View PostSo because he's not at a high profile club he's deemed not good enough?

mmm interesting question is that. if we had to sell stevie g who would be the next best thing???
disagree with the majority of the posters. barton certainly wouldnt be my 1st choice but hes a bit more than a poor mans sg, hes a decent player.
from the epl, I'd take essien, then cahill, then reo-coker in that order
i dont think scholes or lampard could do the job sg does at lfc and i wouldnt want any of the arsenal boys. i wouldnt want any of carrick, fletcher, oshea or any other of the manc CM's for lfc RESERVES! barton or scott parker would be towards the bottom of my list.
our best bet might be an overseas player - rueben baraja of 2-3 years ago would have fitted th bill as i thought would have ballack - how wrong i was. hargreaves is more of a momo type player, gatuso or viera maybe?drunk knows best

Lets look at the evidence.
They both have numbers in their name.
They both think Joey Barton is a quality midfielder.
They both probably dress in matching pvc gimp masks as well.

I'm assuming you are Joey BartonOriginally posted by Marky18 View PostSteven Gerrard i've seen in many a year.
Quality footballer this lad, he's got the lot really, i'd be delighted if we snapped him up but then again we've already got the real Gerrard as well as Alonso and Sissoko, maybe Mascherano to come in as well.

I think Barton is a good player, but he doesn't offer the power or levels of skill that Gerrard does. In fact the comparison was better a few years ago when Gerrard was playing more of a box to box midfield role. Not sure that in a more technical, tactical side like us Barton would look as good as he does being all action at Man City. He doesn't have the guile or range of skills to adapt to different roles.
If we were to go for a box-box style CM, I would have said at the start of the season Reo-Coker on talent and adaptability was streets ahead of Barton. However his role in the Pardew saga and his concurrent loss of form makes me wonder a bit about him."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
