He is a very good player and will probably have no problem to play as a left winger if he need to do that.

We are still interested but I doubt that we have a chance to get him if the takeover doesn't go through this month.

yes you do but the takeover hasn't happened yet and until it does we have no cash to spend. We just have to accept that we aren't going to see any major/exciting/world class signings till the summer. Unfortunately that may mean we lose out on a couple of targets during the jan window.

Missing out on Bale isn't the end of the world anyway - he's good, but he won't turn us into a prem winning side - there are other more pressing areas that we need to improve.

Good news is thought that Micah Richards has said he is def not going anywhere in Jan. He has talked about staying at Citeh for years to come ( believe that when I see it). Maybe once we've got some cash in the summer we will test both his and Citeh's resolve.

They won't pay that much up front though will they!

Like the Walcott transfer to Arsenal the buying club will pay a transfer fee (probably around 6m) then pay the rest depending on success and appearances in the future.

Around 6m would be a decent price for the quality you're getting with Bale, and his dead ball abilities would come in very handy for us at present. Aren't many on here shouting out for a replacement for Riise at the moment, then I can't understand why aren't they up for us signing the lad. I know it probably won't happen due to the financial implications with the club going through a takeover and all that, but this is the type of player we should be looking to sign in my opinion.

Yes we have this young Argie coming in on an 18 month loan, but not many have ever seen him play - he could become the real deal (I hope he does) but I'm basing it on what I've seen of Bale at the moment, and I can honestly say that I expect the lad to have no worries in settling into the EPL straight away after seeing him perform on the international stage so far.

However, with the young Argentinian arriving it looks unlikely that we'll go for another young left back so it's probably a no-no with Bale - a shame as he'll become something special, I'm sure of it!

Sure Bale looks good.....but FFS 10-12mill on a 17 year old LB!!! your avin a larf...6mill is around the mark. We are i dire need of some attacking flair players.....why spent that sort of money on a defender? We have the best defence in the league FFS!

I love how people are righting off Insua, and he hasn't even played a game for us. There was talk that he would be playing in the first team by the end of the season...so he must have a bit to him. Boca Juniors are a massive club, and to be considered as their Lb at 17 is no small feat. He obviously has a fair bit to his game. Give the lad a chance.

its not really an argument, people have said he isnt near the standard of Bale......but how would they know? no-one has seen him play for us.

similar ages, one is argentinian, can't speak english, the other plays in England, speaks English.

if i was a betting man, i'd put money on Bale being the more likely to settle in first.
