interesting. I have no doubt we would be interested in him, and he is certainly talented...but for that sort of money he better be farking quality!
10 million according to the BBC, think that would rule us out of the running...

We won't be bidding 10 million for him, not with Insua already signed.

For the googleth time, that kind of money will only be payed if he delivers.

If he does not it will not.

So it is not 10m for a 17 year old left back.

Let's just forget about Bale he isn't coming, we can all laugh at them when he flops. £10,000,000 for a 17 year old left back FFS we can't even afford a pint of milk at the moment.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every single clip I've seen of Bale shows that he's good at free kicks, but I've yet to see one clip of him actually doing any defending.

Serious question, is he better than Heinze and Evra? Evra's been superb for United this season. Why do they need Bale?

The devil 'Alex Ferguson' needs to suck the soul out of youth players to keep his earth incarnation alive and kicking and to spread more misery around the world. He is an Evil man!!!

On a serious note, Bale doesn't seem to be at that level yet but everyone in football seems to have a very high opinion of him and that doesn't seem to come from just his ability to hit a free kick. I suspect they see him as a long term player for that position. I suspect Heinze would be moved on to cover some of the cost of purchasing Bale if he did in fact sell his soul.

The thing is reading people's responses towards this, Rafa can't win. If we sign Bale for £10-£12m then he's going to have half the supporters saying Nice one, this shows ambition etc etc, whilst the other half will be like £10m for a full back who plays in the Championship

Personally I think we should make a serious offer, but I think £10+ is way too much. Rafa's transfer policy makes pretty good reading when you compare Kuyt & Ash Young cost the same price, Alonso being £8m cheaper than Carrick, Daniel Agger costing less than Newcastle paid for Boumsong...!!
