It's a strange one and maybe you're right, Demento may well know something about the player that we don't. But if it turns out that he's out of favour because Demento rates Evra as a better player then we should pounce.Originally posted by dirty_sanchez View PostHmmm, I think there's more to it than that. Heinze was top class for the Mancs last year and this year he's not had a look in. I wonder if there is a medical issue there or something?

Yeah that's the other side of the coin of course. Evra has been really good this year and is much better going forward than Heinze.Originally posted by desertscouser View PostIt's a strange one and maybe you're right, Demento may well know something about the player that we don't. IMHO £10m for any left-back is ****ing ludicicrous. You can name on one hand the number of left backs who have made a serious difference to the ability of a teamOriginally posted by ShaggyAlonso View Post£10m for Bale is absolutely ludicrous money."Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."

So what about the estimated £12m-£13m for Alves for right back PLY? You against signing him? Just interested in what you think mate?Originally posted by PLY View PostIMHO £10m for any left-back is ****ing ludicicrous. I wouldn’t describe Bale as 'an out and out left full-back' his attacking attributes are very good as well. And if you add-in his dead ball ability, he offers something that not many full back’s can offer. He’s already scored 5 league goals this season.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostBale is an out and out left full-back - Alves is a "lateral" and hence brings a lot more to the attacking table.

5 free kicks innit? I've only seen him in very small highlights packages, and he looks like he can cross a ball - but he doesn't appear to be a rampaging, attacking full back? Certainly not in the mould of Alves?Originally posted by Joey Jones View PostI wouldn’t describe Bale as 'an out and out left full-back' his attacking attributes are very good as well. 4 set pieces and one from open play I think.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View Post5 free kicks innit? I've only seen him in very small highlights packages, and he looks like he can cross a ball - but he doesn't appear to be a rampaging, attacking full back? Certainly not in the mould of Alves?
He might not be a rampaging, attacking full back (yet) but he seems very comfortable with his attacking responsibilities.

i also like the fact that he seems to be very capable defensivley.Originally posted by Joey Jones View Post4 set pieces and one from open play I think.

If he was being bought as a right back then I would say don't do it. However , it was mooted that Alves would play a more dynamic role on the right of midfield whilst providing cover for Finnan at right back as well then he may be worth it.Originally posted by Howard_lfc View PostSo what about the estimated £12m-£13m for Alves for right back PLY? IMHO competent full backs can be bought a lot cheaper than £10m , and those that cost £10m+ do not give the team the additional value reflected in their price. I would suggest that this is particularly true for left backs , apart from Paul Breitner and maybe Andreas Brehme I can't think of any who have significantly made their team a whole lot better (you could argue for Barney's contributions for us in European competition but he didn't make that much difference consistently as opposed to other left backs we've had)"Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."

According to SSN Tottenham have had a bid accepted and Bale has been shown around their facilities but has yet to agree with personal terms with them. Arsenal have now entered the race to sign him and he may favour a move their as he is close freinds with Theo Walcott and Ferguson will watch him play on Sunday...
