I'll never stop loving Liverpool and I'll be thrilled to see more trophies come our way, but the whole thing is a lot hollower than what I fell in love with as a kid.
Problem is we need to move along with the times.

I'd prefer action to be taken to change the times.

Kill Abramovich. Bite his nipples off, suck his eyeballs out, then drill a hole in his head. That sort of action.

I see it as leveling the playing field between us, the SCUM and the Chavs.
At the moment we are handicapped by financial constraints. When the playing field is levelled, if we win the title then I won't give 2 ****s what the scum fans say.
I remember when we were winning everything under Kenny, scum friends used to sing "Kenny Dalglish's red and white cheque book" at me, didn't bother me then and it wouldn't bother me now

Have you started getting any stick from jealous mates? I have. Cries of “hypocrites!” and “you sold your soul to Dubai!” have already started flying my way in this office here in ****house Manchester. It makes me laugh. One United fan here at work has been going on all morning “we were self-made millionaires cos our fame and hugeness brought us profit – you *******s have had to travel the world cap in hand, begging for money off anyone who’ll listen”. :whatever: I’m sure this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Have these other fans got a point? I’m celebrating this deal with a tinge of sadness, but my overriding feeling is one of joy and excitement. This is thread for all things ‘backlash’ and all things negative about the deal.
Just remind them of Michael Knighton and tell them to feck off

                      cant wait.

As has been said we did it in the eighties under Kenny - Houghton, Barnes, Aldo, Beardsley, brought back Rushie - so I don't see how the others will complain if we are now able to compete with the scum and chavs spending ability. Well perhaps they will but that's because they'll be scared of us.

Smaller clubs *Everton* might have a real dig but who cares. It won't be because of our spending power, that's just because everything is our fault.

What does concern me is that TV money has taken over and ***** like Kenyon are taking advantage. Clubs are selling their stadium names for sponsorship, image rights, and even the clubs themselves to the highest bidder, meanwhile the little man suffers (get taxed) as a punishment. Our away fans get charged £40 plus quid for a ticket for most games. Somethings seriously wrong. Everybody has gotten greedy and it isn't a pretty picture. It's a case for us of we can't beat'em so we have to join'em.

The financial bottom line has become so important in recent years that most managers (including Rafa) would rather finish 3rd or 4th in the league instead of winning a domestic cup.

Hopefully this DIC takeover gives us the platform to stick it too the Mancs and the Russians. Shame we had to sell out like them to do it.

As has been said, it's a shame we've had to sell, but that's the way the world turns.

If we want not only to win the league but dominate, then we need this investment.

..... summed up nicely scull .

The commercial realities are tough to take - I guess that why I take so much solace in the past.

I just hope we retain a sense of heritage as we move in to this new era.

Yep, we can go out and buy world class players like Lucas Neill without worrying about being gazumped by top clubs like West Ham. Phew...
