Thanjk you.

Is Sir Stevie, according to uefa. Oh the irony. Let's open up the Stevie's position discussions again. Steven Gerrard has seen off stiff competition from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to make it into the uefa.com Team of the Year. The Liverpool skipper was voted Europe's best right-winger by football fans across the continent. Almost four million votes were cast by uefa.com users, with three Premiership stars making the final cut. The team in full is:
Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus)
Gianluca Zambrotta (Barcelona)
Fabio Cannavaro (Real Madrid)
Carles Puyol (Barcelona)
Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)
Kaká (AC Milan)
Ronaldinho (Barcelona)
Thierry Henry (Arsenal)
Samuel Eto'o (Barcelona)
Are you saying he isn't the best right winger in Europe? I'm only surprised they didn't put him in the team in three or four different positions:
Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Fabio Cannavaro (Real Madrid)
Carles Puyol (Barcelona)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Kaká (AC Milan)
Ronaldinho (Barcelona)
Thierry Henry (Arsenal)
Samuel Eto'o (Barcelona)
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.
Not as a CB he isn't!! I watched him in the camp nou one time.
His positional play is truly amateur. I turned to my mate 'who is a CB', and told him to keep his eye on number 4 for ten minutes for a classic example of how not to play RCB.
He was pulled all over the shop.... by Forlan!
He'd make a great holding CM though. Technique-wise he's spot on... doesn't panic in procession and has good awareness for a pass... maybe he's just prone to the odd bad game, with a little bit of tactical coaching he 'could' be brilliant.

Exactly. Marquez was the Mexican team in the world cup. Barca defend like clowns (except against us probably). I bet that club footed speng Oleguer was at right back too.
Yes. Yes he is, point taken, but not world class by any stretch, and he made RM look like a clown.
The back four at Barca are always fairly poor as a unit (touch wood... **** off KK07, Kaip et al ). That's why i rate Puyol so highly... he usually does the work of two men at the back.
Marquez is a good footballer and i often think he's wasted in the back four, he's a tailor-made holding CM. Barca used to even play him as a full back

Personally, I believe those of you who rate Marquez must fancy him. Please put forth your reason why he is so good and state how many times you've seen him play. Puyol is a fantastic defender, and we'll find that out when we meet Barca.
And Marquez is a midfielder and played as a midfielder for Barca. But as with Ivan Helguera at Real Madrid (who was one of the best defensive midfielders I've ever seen play but now plays as a defender), there are too many central midfielders at his club. And Barca now play him as a defender.
