A true legend....became my favourite player that season. Such a shame he got ill...I watched him a few times at Blackburn and he was still a class above their team despite the fitness/pace problems.
A mate of mine has had business dealings with a few LFC players and he said that Babbel was a top bloke & I met him a couple of times and he was sound.

One in three people never return to full health from the illness he suffered from. Nice fella by all accounts too.

He was ****ing awesome. Loved the bloke.

My favourite Babbel moment was probably when I was at Goodison for the 'Gary Mac' derby. Babbel's goal was crucial but his uber-passionate celebration will live long in my appalling memory.

My best memory of Babbel, was when he scored against Neverton.

He ran the whole length of the pitch, and smashed the ball in the back of the net, like a seasoned striker...

...then he ran off like a little kid, with this massvie grin on his face

        Priceless
        Oh.

          Great player for us

Sadly we missed out on some quality performances from him due to his illness

          Go Well Markus

Markus Babbel was one of my favourite players back around 2001.

His 'never say die' attitude, on and off the pitch, his stamina, his goals, his relaxed look, his quality, his all round performances were just fantastic. One of the best deals LFC ever did - just a shame his unfortunate illness stopped/ended his LFC career way too early.

Good luck to the lad in the future - he will never be forgotten at Anfield!
