    ayala at anfield

    according to talk lfc

'A longstanding and normally reliable and knowledgeable member of talklfc has received information in the past few minutes that Roberto Ayala and another gentleman, possibly his agent, is currently at Anfield.

It's not the blow the Shankly Gates wide open signing that many fans crave but at least it would bring a world class, if slightly aging, defender to the club and more importantly put a stop to the perennial Ayala to Liverpool stories and threads on countles forums!'

For some strange reason, this was on telly in the lounge at Gatwick last night. No idea what the source/programme was, but it was definitely on the telly.

Didn't he have a great world cup? He made the All Star (:whatever team.

Dunno what Rafa's plans are for him, but I don't think he's finished just yet.
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

Regardless of his age, a six month loan deal will be good for us.

                    I hope he signs.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

I thought it would be a bosman in the summer?

I'd just rather take him on loan and look for a younger player in the summer.

I heard he was off to Villarreal.

                          good player
                          not that old
                          already knows the system
                          good from our prespective
still looked a player in the summer to me regardless of age.

It is certainly a risk. But the fact that at least up until the summer Ayala was still in the national side (and at his peak was a better player than Pellegrino) mean that he would have a much better chance of doing well in my opinion.

I think one way or another it would be a good thing for Paletta, either a/ he gets to train and possibly play alongside one of his countries best defenders of the last decade or b/ he can go on loan and get some first team experience.
