Excellent point. You think very deeply about football, don't you?

I'm quite happy to have Ayala at the club just because it sounds good. Superficial I know.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Mentoring PAletta is a good idea.

I'd be very happy with this move, I remember when Rafa joined every man and his dog wanted him to bring over Aimar and Ayala. I wouldn't say Ayala is much less of a player than in 2004, so for me this would be a really good signing.

If (we sign) Ayala plays instead of Hyppia, (useless Hyppia is injured) i'd be and pished

he is one of the best defenders in the world. Despite his age he still has alot to his game.

If he does come it is obviously partly to look after Insua, Leto, Paletta, and maybe Mascherano.Rafa knows his personality well, as well as his playing abilities so I think his off the field contribution could be as important as his performance on the pitch

If he achieves what peleg did then great. not every player is bought to play in every first team game. Some are bought for back up some for experience and pele was bought to teach zonal marking and give back up and we looked alot better after he arrived. Admittedly not with him in the team but he did help teach the system that has worked so well over the last couple of years on the whole

also remember he was well liked and the fact he got some medals for the boys in the champs league final if i remember rightly from the milan dressing room

hmm, yeah never thought about that. Being captain of Argentina he would be held in high regard by these youngsters. Great for morale

                          good call Wilf

yes it would be like our young lads who look up to God cara and Stevie G.

The argies will look up to Ayala.

Sorry man, I think you are bn a little disrespectful of the big man there. He was brought in for a purpose, and it served us well last year with the performance of our defence. Also the story about him getting the medals for the young lads is a legendary one, he may have been past his prime when he arrived but he played a part in how we have progressed under Rafa.

in the champions league where he wasnt eligible

in the epl we leaked soft goals like a seive for the rest of that season - the blueshyte finished above us ffs. hes as poor a player as ive EVER seen in an lfc shirt - i know he was a decent player once but I am faster than he was. he was LONG past it.

i accept we may have gained in the quality of hyppias performances through being able to rest him but it was at a price. the acid test: he was moved on PDQ.

certain excessively generous kt posters back then attributed some of our improved defensive organisation the following season to pellegrino. i dont believe that and ive read all the inside accounts of that time that are in print.

Ayala is WAY better a player than pellegrino ever was. an absolutele world class player - exactly the type of player we ought to be signing IN THEIR PRIME. even so, i think hed be a ver valuable addition to the squad - better than neil and light years ahead of pellegrino.
