To be fair i don't think he had much of an option, he wanted Cole and Arsenal wouldn't have sold him without getting Gallas in return and i don't think he was going to sign a new deal at Chelsea

They had two centre backs anyway, Essien and Ferreira ffs. Excuses shouldn't be made when Chelsea were well beaten.
