    Alves

Sorry to bring this one up again folks but exactly is the deal with this lad in terms of him joining or not joining us?
Looked a done deal in the summer but all's very quiet on this front at the minute, any news?

He recently signed a new contract with Sevilla. They're doing brilliantly in the league. Why would he wanna leave now?

His manager has been taking English lessona, and its no secret apparently that he would like to manage in the Preimer LEague.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

      * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

There has never been any deal between LFC and Daniel Alves.

Watched him play against Villareal yesterday. It was strange, as Hinkel seemed to play RM instead of him - as Navas wasnt palying. His set piece delivery was good, but to be fair, he makes lots of poor challenges for a RB, that would give alot of freekicks away in the EPL

He is very quick and his acceleration is good, but honestly 10 million > for an attacking RB is alot of money
          We need better attacking players!

          Torres aint enough

He is one of the best crossers in the World. Imagine him deliver the crosses to better strikers than Kanoute.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I have to say that the Alves obsession somewhat concerns me. There seems to be no shortage of people who think we should have gone and spent £12m+ on the lad last summer, who no doubt looks a cracking player at times, but ultimately is a bit suspect defensively to play at RB in England, and has never really played as a winger at any point in his whole career. Add the whole "South American trying to settle in the EPL" factor, and I really really feel the money that has been, and continues to be talked about for him, would be an enormous risk.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Daniel Alves is the new Van Der Vaart

Van der Vaart is a very good player. Don't be surprised if Rafa signs him if Kewell won't be fit enough. He is the same type of player as Kewell.

No, Van Der Vaart is only a good player, not a very good one, but anyway I wasn't referring to his actual talent, but the (unjustified) hype that surrounded him amongst lfc fans a few seasons ago....

i cagree, dont think he is good enough to be a rb in the prem, a winger yes maybe.
saying that though ive only been keeping an eye on him since we were 1st linked with him and rafa may hav eother ideas for him.

Alves is the dominant player for Sevilla. He works his socks off in every game. It's very tough to get past him. He may be a little bit nasty but that is only good IMO. It's not easy for him to carry the team in game after game.

He can play in more or less every position and that's another bonus.

The key for a good winger is that he is fast, get past a player and deliver very good crosses. Alves can do all of the above without any problem.

He would need a rest right now but Sevilla can't afford to give him that. They would have no chance to keep up the pace at the top without him.

He played on the left and in the middle for Ajax just as Kewell have done for us.
