Alves is a quality player. I've specifically watched Sevilla matches to see him play and he'll definately cut it in the premiership. He is without a doubt the new Cafu and is miles better than Cicinho - (Cicinho was labelled as the new Cafu and was linked with us before he went to Real Madrid and got injured - ha ha ha ha. And he's crap at defending).

Lemme break it down for you:

He's very very quick (Probably, almost as quick as Bellamy)

Defensively he's spot on - just when you think you've got past him, he gets back and tackles you

He's fantastic going forward very skillful - not a winger let alone a right back in the premiership can get forward like him (Yes im saying he's better than Lennon)

Great crosser, passer of the ball and can score goals

Has the ability to attack down the wing and can also drift in-field too

He's always involved in the play - doesn't go absent in a match for long periods

Overall our chances of getting him before Christmas were very lim unless we could have stumped up a big fee. But Sevilla have now suffered a poor run of results and I think providing they don't win La Liga, we may have a chance of getting him.

But also Sevilla are a selling club - they don't let players go on the cheap. Example being Ramos, Reyes, Baptista etc etc. So we're never gte Alves on the cheap

I think he's perfect for the times that SG will play RW, and for when we play 3-4-3 & 3-5-2 with Aurelio on the left of the mid and Alves on the right of the mid.

I hope we still get him. But he'll need to calm down in the Prem. He does dive in on occasions. Having said that he's got a great engine, can cross and can hit a ball, run all day, and has pace - which means we can defend higher up the pitch, knowing that he'll catch most people one aone-to-one when the flag does stay down...
