I tend to lurk up here as it can be a bit too serious for me.
I'm the same....I prefer a bit of banter.

Though, I have posted a couple of times in this foum today

Sounds like he`s a big, strong guy, but with poor technique. Has an eye for the goal, was usually the top-scorer in leagues he`s played.
So what I'm hearing is we've just signed Neil Mellor again, d'oh
I like to lurk, if that's ok with you

                RAFA PLEASED WITH STRIKER SIGNING
                Paul Eaton 26 January 2007

Rafael Benitez is confident new striker Jordy Brouwer can enjoy a successful career at Anfield as he revealed work is still ongoing to improve the squad before the transfer window closes.
The Reds signed the Dutch youngster from Ajax earlier in the week as Benitez continued his policy of recruiting potential stars of the future.

18-year old Brouwer was given the opportunity to extend his stay in Holland, but instead opted for a new career on Merseyside.

"Jordy is a very good finisher," said Benitez. "He’s a young boy who will need time but he is a player for the future. He can score a lot of goals.

"We're always working to see if we can improve the squad. It's important that we work until the end."

Liverpool, meanwhile, are still waiting to hear whether their appeal to FIFA to allow West Ham's Javier Mascherano to sign for the Reds will be successful.

"He is a player we want but we are waiting for the answer," added Benitez.

"It's clear a professional must play - he cannot stay without playing any games. He can bring more balance to our team. I have confidence but we have to wait."

One deal Benitez has overseen this week saw Stephen Warnock bring his Liverpool career to an end by signing for Blackburn Rovers.

"We want to say thank you to Stephen because he is a good professional but clearly he needed to play games. We wish him well with his new club," he added.

This is by Fyds on YNWA, he knows his dutch footie, and this come directly from a mate of his in Amsterdam.

Brouwer (pronounced 'Brewer') is very quick in terms of acceleration over the first 10 metres. Good with both feet and strong for his age, he can cut through defences when the last man forward and wins many free kicks and penalties doing this. His dribbling is good and has improved over the last year or so, and in many ways reminds me of van Persie at Arsenal. He has a range of shots, from straight and very hard to carefully bent and lobbed balls, being a quick thinker. He is quite useful at freekicks because of his range and quick mind. His heading is very good but he needs to work on his tackling. When he is ready he will partner Kuyt very well as both work very hard and have good mental awareness, but also having different strengths.

We (Ajax) wanted to keep him, but he didn't want to stay as there are several very good young strikers here who have already made the first team, so this was the perfect time for him to leave before signing full professional contracts. I think you have bought a fine young player who is almost ready for the first team.

sounds very promising indeed. It will be interesting to see how he goes in the reserves.

I expect 18 year olds to be pushing for a first team place.

                      cheers for that harvey.
Think i read a conflicting report somewhere else though, it was on an Ajax forum, said he was a good finisher and had physical presence, and they werent sure why if he is not good enough for Ajax he was good enough for LFC, physical presence is the key for me, along with his finishing, not runing from deep. I guess it remains to be seen.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                        no worries Bazza mate.

im a big fan of the Dutch style of play...so naturally im quite pleased we have signed a young Ajax player.

Like you, i had also heard conflicting reports on his style of play. But this guy knows his stuff. I had heard he was big, strong and a good finisher...but slow. Which sounds almost the polar opposite to this report.

Hopefully we get to see him in action for the ressies soon, then we will be able to make our own minds up aye.

6´3 , good header, good finisher, strong, good mental awareness.

Sounds good. We get a lot of crosses in so our style should suit him fine.

Sounds like Crouch with some heading skills! Lets see how he does then!

You've got no idea how good he is, so why are you making these stupid sweeping statements. He's probably got less chance of a first team game than the likes of El Zhar who've been training with the squad for the last year.
El Zhar is a attacking midfielder, not a striker. I believe El Zhar will act as backup to Garcia next season.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
