ElRobbie has a point when he says that he wants better quality of football by us, but he's over the top with his slating of Crouch.

He's not to be blamed when the instructions (tactics) are to lump the ball at him at every occasion, as the lad can play a bit. The fact is, Rafa has made us play a mixture of long and short passing and tactically, it's really difficult for any team to play against us when we're on our game. That's probably better, results wise, than to play a total type of football ala Arsenal which doesn't give them any guarantee when they have been stifled tactically.

The 'better' quality of football will come when Rafa has more money to buy top top class players, instead of going for bargain buys. At the end of the day, manure play with the same type of football than us, mixing long and short passing with high tempo stuff.

Slating Crouch is out of order anyway.

I like Kuyt too. It's the others I think aren't up to it, if we want to get back to the top. Realistically, Bellamy, Crouch and Fowler are not top strikers. You can probably only get away with ahving a max of 3 TOP strikers in a squad these days, befor ethey start moaning about rotation, so the 4th is usually of the Bellamy / Crouch ilk. But that's all they're good enough for me, if anything - 4th spot. We need another 2 top goalscoring strikers in my book.

If I was a defender, I wouldn't be scared playing against someone who was a foot taller than me if they couldnt head a ball.

It is not just the heading towards goal (he did score winning headers against both Utd and Chelsea though), it is the knock downs and space it creates for others and he is still our top scorer.

Pace is everything in strikers in the top flight now. Is not an asset, it's a necessity. The only ones who can get away without this are the very, very best: Dalglish, Van Basten, Bergkamp, Zola, Cantona etc. Which is why Bellamy's pace without a clinical finish is not good enough (something Cisse was criticised and shipped out for), and Crouch's ability without pace or finishing is not good enough. And Fowler's lack of pace and hold up play is woefully exposed at the top level now, even though givemn a chance he usually takes it, but the defenders are just too strong and quick for him now.

Maybe that's why you're not a defender. You are very staunch in your blatent hatred of Crouch, but surely a player who is reportedly on £20k a week and is willing to sit on the bench when we don't need him, then put 100% in when we do is worth having. Plus, the fact that you are ignoring his height as a positive asset to us is ridiculous. Did you not watch the game yesterday? Chelsea couldn't deal with it, simple as.

Even with a strike-force featuring the most high profile names in football Crouch would provide a unique option for Rafa.

That second point I've highlighted, all teams play a 'mixture' of styles/tactics, but not even the blindest Liverpool fan can surely see they play better more adventourous football than us, and they have a better attcking line up than us.

It is not a necessity, one pacey striker, maybe, but ability can make up for pace.

so does that rule Kuyt out as a decent striker too colin?

ahh Bellamy is quite a good finisher actually Your making stuff up now, which usually signals you've lost the argument.
