Just mentioning those two in the same sentence makes me feel sick.

I'm all for getting behind anyone who wears the shirt but surely people can see we ain't goin anywhere with Crouch? nothing personal.

I personally have my doubts as to wether he would be a regular started in a championship winning team, but to come on the day after a match in which the opposition manager singled him out as a player who he was worried about before the game and who in the game gave their defence constant problems seems a bit odd.

Crouch is a very good player. He presents an unusual challenge to defenders and as such is a valuable asset to us. I really find it quite perplexing when people slate him an I will happily admit his flaws. I just think this sort of attack on a player with no evidence presented or alternatives suggested, or indeed any form of reasoning given is grosely unfair.

And if we want to compete we need better players at LFC than Crouch, Bellamy, Fowler, Pennant, Diao, Kewell etc. This is what the lad's on about.

Peter Crouch is our Andy Cole...only with a poorer goal record - he needs 4 or 5 chances to score before he does. The problem is, because the rest of our strikers are so profligate as well, and the wide MFers haven't produced the consistent creativity we need, the problem is amplified. Which is why we need better strikers, and more productive wingers.

Because Utd had more clinical strikers, creative wide players and those who contributed to the goals tally, when Cole was playing, his shortcomings were well hiughlighted , but they didn't suffer too much for it. We've suffered big-time because of our wastefulness in the competitions that matter.

            At last, an intelligent reply!

The bit I highlighted really sums up my feelings.

At the end of the day, I love Liverpool as much as any of you do, I just have dreams and aspirations for us to have a better quality of player and play better football, surely some of you must want the same.

And this is supposed to be a negative? I don't know what game you were watching yesterday but I seemed to remember a Chelsea defence that could NOT cope with Crouch's presence (see: 1st goal). I'm not going to bother wasting my breath defending Crouch's place in our squad, I'll just swallow my ego instead

Sorry did we beat Chelsea yesterday with him playing? Did he not score numerous times in the CL this season to enable our easiest ever passage through the group stages? I think as a squad we are developing and Peter is part of that, he offers a "possibility" which is different to our other strikers, ask any Prem centre back if they like playing against him. Oh also does he not also have the fastest scoring rate for England for like ever?
As stated 30 goal a season player he may not be but i wouldn't be suprised if he gets in the twenties this season.
                08-09 Dirk monitor

                5 goals (target 15)

                3 assists also........

So - do people wthink our strike force is OK then? Because for a club of our standing I think it's awful. Probably the only worse strike force in recent times was Camara, Meijer etc.

How about you get your head out of your arse and realise he is dangerous player and a complete nightmare for defenders to play against.

theres nothing wrong with Kuyt, Bellers and Crouch...Robbie shouldnt be here. It pains me to say it, but he really offers little to us. The only reason he is here is for sentimental reasons IMO.

A young striker, with pace, should be brought in to fill the 4th striker role. Pongolle may fill this role if he comes back? But Robbie wont be here next season.

I like your style mate, but I like Kuyt, he just needs a partner, not a ****ing useless sack of **** next to him.

pace is not everything, he may not be fast, but he scares the **** out of opposition defenders, that in turn creates space for others. He also links very well creating chances, he is also our top scorer.
