he has pace- yes he does (good quailty but not enough on its own)

he has skill - does he? If he can beat a man so easily why does he get caught offside so often?

he has desire, he has passion - so do a lot of players - (e.g. Cisse - look where he is?) Not enough to succeed as a TOP goalscorer.

Shortcomings: not a top goalscorer, history of being a trouble-maker , dodgy knees, constant whingeing at the linesmen

As for when I started wtaching Liverpool..well let me just say I've seen enough good Liverpool strikers to know the current bunch aren't good enough.

Oh and as for Newcastle challenging for the league title - I think you'll find that was under Kevin Keegan.

It wasnt meant as that as i am not in fact 12 years old, it was more of a point that you probably dont know where ****in anfield is, as i suggested earlier go support a club that needs fans who know **** all.

So you'd not have signed a right midfielder Pennant or otherwise, Crouch being last season is irrelevant as his fee is in that £25 million. At least you tried to respond intelligently, and i agree on RVN i would have tried to sign him although i dont think for one minute he would have come.
Ironic you should use another "moron" scapegoat in Garcia as your fourth choice striker as a lot of people say he "isnt good enough for LFC".

The arguement was about who we'd have signed as strikers given the budget - not wide players. For me Garcia is much more effective played as a split striker, than a wide player. The Crouch money has to be included in the arguement, becuase I wouldn't have signed him in the first place (hence that money would be available).

As for Pennant, I don't think he's good enough either, and if we were that short of cash , then as much as I hate it, I would have played SG on the right and given Anderson a run where possible, or even Zenden (who is not a CMer), until Kewell was fit, and Gonzalez found his feet

So - do people wthink our strike force is OK then? Because for a club of our standing I think it's awful. Probably the only worse strike force in recent times was Camara, Meijer etc.

Pace is everything in strikers in the top flight now. Is not an asset, it's a necessity. The only ones who can get away without this are the very, very best: Dalglish, Van Basten, Bergkamp, Zola, Cantona etc. Which is why Bellamy's pace without a clinical finish is not good enough (something Cisse was criticised and shipped out for), and Crouch's ability without pace or finishing is not good enough. And Fowler's lack of pace and hold up play is woefully exposed at the top level now, even though givemn a chance he usually takes it, but the defenders are just too strong and quick for him now.

Yes of course. We had the quickest forward in our history and he was a huge success. Where is he now? Oh yes back in the French League

OK with a Transfer budget of 25 mill for this year (you would have to add £7m for Crouch from last year's budget, as he ws bought last year) = £32m

With what money we had on the table and on the books I would have done the following:

Bought RVN for £10m when available, or Owen for £16m
Bought Kuyt for £10m
Kept Cisse
Played Garcia as 4th striker
Added a cheaper younger striker to the books, or gone for a proven goalscorer such as Klose with a reasonable buy-out clause (which would be less than £12m)

that's reasonable. And far more consistent goals potential than we currently have in the squad.
