Parity, at last!Originally posted by lfcruleus View PostNo I 100% agree with you on that, but useless he isnt, what i have been trying to get across was that he was an option at the time for the amount of money we had at the time and he done OK, I do not think he is in the class of Rooney or Henry but players like that dont just materialise out of thin air. People on here seem to think that just because Liverpool put an offer in for a player that he is gonna sign for us, this is the real world not FM2007.

But we did exist before FM2007 and had the option of NOT buying Crouch

We badly needed a striker at the time, and i openly stated at the time not to sign him, I also always go with the manager whilst we are going in the right direction which i believe we are.Originally posted by ElRobbie View PostParity, at last!

who would you have bought for 7m smartarse that would have scored as much and had as many assists.?
its obvious you dont like the fella but so ****in what.
if he scored say 15 or even 10 goals next year in the league and we win the prem, will you say he played no part?
hes a vital part of the squad and gives us a different option to our other strikers, if you cannot see that then your blind.Parry is a clown. En Rafa que confiamos

This discussion has been ongoing for ages now and its becoming a bit tedious. Crouch has quality and his game is not just based on his goal scoring ability but more on his overall play and his ability to link up play and to hold the ball up, bringing other players into the game and creating opportunities.
i can see were many of you are coming from as he should score a lot more than he does based on the amount of chances he has and wastes. this is a big flaw in his play but if it wasn't there he would be worth 30 million and not 7 mil. i say keep crouch as he offers the team another option which not many teams have, if any.
if a new striker comes in in the summer then i can see crouch moving down the pecking order but still being involved and i cant think of a better 3/4th choice striker to have than crouch.“At a football club, there’s a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don’t come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques”. Bill Shankly

There's nothing wrong with identifying areas in the team where we can improve. If it's done constructivley.
That said, I'd move seats if I had to sit next to you slagging off our players during a match. It's my job to handle life and death situations on a daily basis. It's what I do, and I'm very good at it.

You waste your time & energy trying to explain that on here, and as to why anyone has a pop at LFC players, especiallly after such a good win is way, way beyond me.Originally posted by Red_Al_77 View PostHe's still our top scorer, and the 6th top scorer in all competitions. If you take away penalties he is third. I'm getting fed up with those that deride his value to the team. Yes we all know his heading is poor but he still offers much. I'd suggest those that berate him please answer why if he's so crap Rafa still picks him and he still scores goals.
Crouch will not improve much from now to the end of his career, wysiwyg.
There are times when we are frustrated with a certain player in a certain match, but overall, supporters should support and leave the bitching to other fans.
If there is a player available that will improve a position, then I'm sure that Rafa has also seen this too, and let's leave it at that.
Speculation as to who we can get in is great, but to constantly berate players in red is unforgiveable.Last edited by lfc4ever; 21-01-07, 03:47 PM.

Ahh right, so of the Big Four, which team's strikers have scored more goals?Originally posted by Kopite_Colin View PostSo - do people wthink our strike force is OK then? Because for a club of our standing I think it's awful. Probably the only worse strike force in recent times was Camara, Meijer etc.
Don't think too hard about it.
Oh and using exaggeration as way of trying to reinforce your point cuts no ice.
Camara and Meijer were awful but to compare our current strikers to them waters down your point - if indeed you really had one.Are you the Judean People's Front?

The fact that you even have the bit in bold shows how little you seem to know about footie. Buy RVN? From Man Utd? Ah right I see, cos that would happen.Originally posted by Kopite_Colin View PostOK with a Transfer budget of 25 mill for this year (you would have to add £7m for Crouch from last year's budget, as he ws bought last year) = £32m
With what money we had on the table and on the books I would have done the following:
Bought RVN for £10m when available, or Owen for £16m
Bought Kuyt for £10m
Kept Cisse
Played Garcia as 4th striker
Added a cheaper younger striker to the books, or gone for a proven goalscorer such as Klose with a reasonable buy-out clause (which would be less than £12m)
that's reasonable. And far more consistent goals potential than we currently have in the squad.
I'll give you a quick history lesson to go with the maths lesson from my earlier post. We have not had transfer dealings with that club since 1964 - 43 years ago. A good few years before you were born I'll wager...Are you the Judean People's Front?
