I'll give you a quick history lesson to go with the maths lesson from my earlier post. We have not had transfer dealings with that club since 1964 - 43 years ago. A good few years before you were born I'll wager...
K'nell, even I don't remember that happening at the time, but I do know who it was, Phil Chisnall, yeh right, made a real name for himself didn't he?

It just doesn't nor ever will happen, nor should it ever happen of course.

Then that shows how much you know. If you had read the thread, you'd know it wasn't me who put it in bold. And for your information, you're right the last transfer was before I was born. But just to leave you guessing I won't tell you how long. So once again you've made a grossly wrong assumption.

Oh and using exaggeration as way of trying to reinforce your point cuts no ice.
Oh - is that was I was trying to do? thanks for letting me know. In fact it was a genuine question.

No it was me who put it in bold to highlight it!!

So you didn't suggest that we buy RVN for £10m then?

What? Like the original question of mine you've conveniently ignored?

              Exactly.

So of course buying RVN would have been a walk in the park for Rafa if he'd wanted him eh?

I happen to think we have the makings of the best strike force we've had in a very long time. I seriously challenge anyone to come up with 3 other strikers we could have got for £23m that offer as many different options, with no inconsiderable amount of skill and drive. All of them have flaws to some extent, but I'm very happy with what we've got at the moment, and certainly in the case of Kuyt and Bellamy, I think there's a lot better to come. Now that's only 3/4 of what a modern prem team needs, but if we can add, well, a young Fowler-type, I think we'll be laughing.

If we do, Crouch would probably be my 4th choice, but he's a good player and a decent human being to boot, and has never deserved a lot of the grief he has got from a small section of so-called fans of the club he plays his heart out for.

OK. I was asked to come up with a suggestion as an alternative given a restriction on transfer funds to our current crop of strikers. That is in fact what I did. Like it or not RVN went for in the range of £10m. Yes, it is unlikely that Utd would have done a deal with us, but money talks in this game, and you never know.
At the time RVN went, AFII and another lad (who I had a difference of opinion with on Owen with -can't remember his name on KT) agreed that FOR THE MONEY RVN was the best available AT THAT PRICE. That was the only point I made.

All in all Bellamy does not offer us anything over Cisse imho, other than he was more experienced in the Premier League.
Passion, greater ability, willing to play for others and I'd bet he outscores him too.

Definitely. He works far, far harder than Cisse does, he uses them ball better, and he's got a better first touch.

Actually, I was not impressed at all with Crouchs workrate in the last game.

BUT you know that RVN would have signed for us

Red Chilli is back, say what you like but you ain't got the intelligence to prove me wrong. I also know you ain't got the evidence, where as I have, Crouch is slow, his shooting is woeful, he's too easily muscled off the ball and at 6ft 7in and plays football for a living, he can't even head a ball with any power or direction.

Have a go, go on I said yesteday's game proved me right yet again, his header which set up the goal was a lucky half/miss hit header, everytime the ball went to him our attacking play broke down and went backwards, yet again he headed a relatively easy chance tamely straight at the keeper.

The bottom line is, I just want better for our club, who honestly wants to watch us hoofing the ball up to Crouch to get knock downs for another striker? I just want to see us play better football than that and have a striker who has more about him and is better to watch.

Call me dimwitted, call me whatever you like, I care for a our club just as much as any of you, I'm passionate about us winning and want the best for us, if you're happy with that style of play and what he offers as a striker, that's fine, I'm not, if you want to slate me for it, then go ahead, I'm more than confident in what I'm saying and what I believe is fair and right because I know deep down in the cold light of day that I want the best for the team. I'm just not one of these rose-tinted glasses fans that some of you are, just accept that, were all different.

It would have been better if you had said that in the first place rather than go round insulting everyone and making rash generalizations. Crouch is not the David Villa or Wayne Rooney everybody knows we need to challenge for top honours year on year, but why can't you see a team that can incorporate Crouch as a useful option to have. He is inexpensive wage-wise, seems great as far as morale and team spirit are concerned, loves the club and, ultimately, has won us numerous matches in terms of both goals scored and opportunities created.

I suppose it has to be accepted that there will always be those who do not rate Crouch, for whatever reason. But I do, maybe not as our first choice striker, but as an extremely unique alternative when we need it.
