It's fun to stir people up a bit, you get more out of people when they are angryOriginally posted by NICKZS View PostIt would have been better if you had said that in the first place rather than go round insulting everyone and making rash generalizations. Crouch is not the David Villa or Wayne Rooney everybody knows we need to challenge for top honours year on year, but why can't you see a team that can incorporate Crouch as a useful option to have. He is inexpensive wage-wise, seems great as far as morale and team spirit are concerned, loves the club and, ultimately, has won us numerous matches in terms of both goals scored and opportunities created.
I suppose it has to be accepted that there will always be those who do not rate Crouch, for whatever reason. But I do, maybe not as our first choice striker, but as an extremely unique alternative when we need it.
Turned out to be a good debate in the end

Some rose-tinted fans can't eitherOriginally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostAmen. Some ranters and ravers just cannot see the wood for the trees.
Works both ways, I would say the same about people who cover up all of his shortcomings as a player.
I'm not saying that I'm right and everyone else is wrong, I just I have the right to feel frustrated by what I believe to be poor quality football and footballing skills.
Some people might call me a whinger, ranter or raver or negative , or whatever, that's fine, I give as gos as I get and take it all on the chin and laugh it off, I just prefer to see it another way thats all. I prefer to see it as wanting us to be better, having higher expectations and hoping for better doesn't necessarily mean you are negative or a whinger.

Fair enough mate, I don't do points scoring, I think its a valid and on going argument and I'll keep raising the point whenever I feel I'm proved right, to remind those of you who see it differently that I do have I point and may not be the dim-witted idiot you think I am.Originally posted by Harveybirdman View Posthardly

The problem is not your opinion. It´s the fact that you come on stronger then you should to get people pissed of. There is really no need for that. People are willing to talk anyway.Originally posted by ElRobbie View PostSome rose-tinted fans can't either

And this way of doing thing does not make this a better forum.

It does when you portray yourself as such, though. If you construct your argument in a collected and thought-out manner then you will get a far better response and debate out of it. There's nothing wrong with a little heated debate, but this thread is littered with personal jibes and minimal-to-zero thought provoking content.Originally posted by ElRobbie View PostSome rose-tinted fans can't either

In any case, I hope Crouch goes on to convince you entirely that he is beneficial to Liverpool FC

I'm tired of hearing all this nonsense. some of you moan when we lose or win, maybe moaning and seeing the glass half empty is your way of living life..
but it doesn't mean the rest of us have to be that way.
if you actually stop ranting away without thinking you will realise that
Rafa is building a very good squad here.
he's buying new players which need time to gel.. this shows last season and this season. second half of last season we got more points then any team in the league. and the same again this season. we've started badly because the players needed time to gel. Now are we not winning almost every game... have we not got more points then any team in the last 10 games. did we not get our highest EVER PL points total ladt season... Are we not better off by one point this season then we were at this point last seaon. Are out strikers all not sharing the goals between them to help us win every game.
Things are looking bright, and if you can't see it then tough. I'm very happy with the way things are going.. and i've waited a long time to see us start doing well.
PS. i think crouch is doing well when he does get a chance to play and also works hard for the team. however he needs to time his headers better.Last edited by captain-caveman; 22-01-07, 12:50 PM.Lets just get on with the job and see how it pans out at the end.

:whatever:Originally posted by ElRobbie View PostGo back to sleep, wake up and smell the coffee, however you want to put it, for god's sake, wake up and remember what football team you support, and have a think, sing his name by all means, but settle for mediocrity? I can't, sorry!?
Actually i get the feeling this is *unk bored out of his tits and decides he will come over to piss a few people off. Since KT is like a mortuary these days.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Originally posted by Kopite_Colin View PostPace is everything in strikers in the top flight now. Is not an asset, it's a necessity. The only ones who can get away without this are the very, very best: Dalglish, Van Basten, Bergkamp, Zola, Cantona etc. Which is why Bellamy's pace without a clinical finish is not good enough (something Cisse was criticised and shipped out for), and Crouch's ability without pace or finishing is not good enough. And Fowler's lack of pace and hold up play is woefully exposed at the top level now, even though givemn a chance he usually takes it, but the defenders are just too strong and quick for him now.
Cisse was shipped out because of his lack of effort / willingness to work
IMO Bellamy, Crouch & Kuyt are all good enough to be at the club. We need an out and out top quality goal scorer but I cant honestly say there is a player out there who I'd go for
As for players not being good enough for a title team, can I remind you of players in our past that played a part in Championship winning sides that were not top quality namely David Hodgson, Michael Robinson, Paul WalshBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

IncorrectOriginally posted by Kopite_Colin View PostOK I'll explain myself. If he has that amount of skill them he wouldn't need to play on the shoulder of the last man and continually get caught offside, as he would be able to stay a little deeper and then beat the man with his skill rather than just for pace.
All in all Bellamy does not offer us anything over Cisse imho, other than he was more experienced in the Premier League.
Bellamy offers workrate, effort and passion

You clearly didnt watch CisseOriginally posted by Kopite_Colin View Post
he has desire, he has passion - so do a lot of players - (e.g. Cisse - look where he is?) Not enough to succeed as a TOP goalscorer.
.
The major difference between Bellamy and Cisse is workrate
Bellamy will chase balls, close down defenders
Cisse just stood there fecking moaning all the time when the ball wasnt played to his feet
More often than not attitude is the making of a player, just like Emile Heskey it was Cisse's downfall
Lovely bloke off the pitch who said all the right things but where it matters most he didnt have enough passion or commitment to fight his way out of a wet EchoBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
