    Fowler to leave?

Taken from the BBC's gossip section:

Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler is ready to follow David Beckham into Major League Soccer. (Sunday Mirror)

Make of it what you will!

I really can't see that happening, Beckham's a greedy glitzy-fame-seeking ****** and Robbie isn't. If he's not offered a new contract at the end of the season then I can picture him being offered some training position with us or seeing what's on offer at Crewe, Chester or Tranmere

      a bit naive i think
if an mls club offered him 50k a week for a couple of years he'd be mad not to go frankly

one of th eguys at the mirror is close to robbie so there may be something in it

maybe at the revolution under nicol?

Well this was mentioned over a week ago in the Telegraph with a comment from Fowler's agent stating contact had been made. I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand.

If the lad's been offered oustanding money for 2 years - say £50-60K a week, he'd be mad not to take it - That's £6m over 2 years. Would you refuse it? It's 2 years out of your life - he'd be able to enjoy the new life, new culture, where few people know him (and therefore bother him) and he would know he was coming home and banking the cash. Family has to coem 1st and £6m can do them an awful lot of good.

I will have to agree that our teams are ****. And Beckham is going to have to work his ass off to get all that money and then work his ass off some more. It's not being handed to him on a solid gold platter.

I also realize most everyone having a go at Beckham for coming here is to be expected. But that's the UK point of view. Here in the states we are happy he's coming. We are hoping he will have a massive impact on the game here.

And if we can get Robbie then that's great news as well. I would love to see more quailty players here. I don't watch MLS and never thought I would as I feel they are all **** teams. Not very supportive of me I know. But...if we got better players, more positive attention to the game, then that's all to the good. And there are not just rumors of Robbie coming to the states. Other players have mentioned it as well.

                          Fowler to leave?

Not the greatest sourse but worth a mention (club call)

Former Liverpool team-mates Robbie Fowler and Patrik Berger are considering offers to follow David Beckham to Major League Soccer.
Reports claim (Washington) DC United are ready to offer Fowler a lucrative chance to end his career in the sun if, as is expected, he is not offered a new deal at Anfield.

With Beckham-mania hitting the US, many MLS clubs are looking to bring Premiership veterans over to add more celebrity spice to the competition.
Fowler, who's still only 31, has been told by Liverpool he will not be getting a new deal next summer and had been considering giving up the game altogether to concentrate on his other interests, including horse racing.
But the lure of spending a couple of years in the US may prove irresistible to the former England striker.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                          * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I truly hope that Fowler retires at the end of the season, the way it always should have been, going out at the top, going out after giving his all for the club that he truly loves.

Robbie is a legend, and always will be, I just couldn't stand watching him playing a lower class football for years to come. I want to remember all that is good about the lad, his pure genius, his greatness, the smile he displayed at the beginning of the Second Coming.
