I thought they could just tell him to **** off, but admittedly I'm no expert

I think they want to know what he's offering that's why they've allowed him access.

Maybe Moore doesn't want to burn all his bridges until the DIC has been 100% completed i.e. Gillette a back up plan??

      Just a thought

The DIC takeover gets my vote though, fingers crossed it all goes through soon

Could also be a subtle way of applying pressure to DIC possibly to negociate a better deal or speed them up a bit.

Just a healthy reminder that they need to get a move on.

Indeed but a risky move if true IMO

Depends on how good an investment prospect DIC see us as and how much money they think they stand to make. If they want us badly enough then they'll get the deal done whilst they are in pole position.
If a little competition puts them off then maybe they are not the right option for the club as they don't see very comitted.
I don't know, it's interesting to speculate though.

The way I see it is as what's going on is "Flavour of the Month", US Tycoons owning well known English Football Club brands to improve their own portfolio, and with the massive increase in TV revenue next season, they see it as not missing out on the slice of the old apple pie.

He has an improved offer on the table, he is allowed by Financial Law to examine the books, Moores holds the key (and the majority of shares), if he tells Gillett thanks but no thanks, that also sends a strong message to DIC (and others) that we only want you as preferred bidder.

What it also does is put Gillett in the frame for other clubs though doesn't it, like Newcy, Citeh, Spurs etc.

What I find more surprising is that there's only 2 bidders!

We need DIC more than they need us. If they wanted, DIC could make any football club a 'power'.

Jesus cant they change that name?

Fair enough, I didn't know that. So it's because it's an improved offer is it?

Mr Glove, better up it to 2 quid then

We aint cheap thats probably why. Villa went for waht? 60mil, West ham 40mil? Well there are probably a lot more people with a spare 60mil floating about than ones with a spare 170mil or 450mil or whatever we are costing.

                              Liverpool reveal Gillett approach

Liverpool have received an approach about a possible takeover of the club from American tycoon George Gillett.

The Anfield club issued a statement to the Stock Exchange under the Takeover Code rules about Gillett's interest.

Liverpool said the approach "may or may not lead to an offer" and "shareholders will be kept informed as appropriate."

Dubai International Capital is a rival consortium and are favourites to take over the club having already analysed Liverpool's financial books.

Gillett recently improved his offer for the club and as a bidder can now also perform due diligence, which is the process of examining the finances of the club.

                              More to follow.
A bidding war for control of the club and gurantees from each bidder on how they will take the club forward can only be a good thing IMHO.

                                I totally agree.

I don't like the fact this Yank's coming in at the last minute when he's had months to put his offer on the table. Why choose now when we're supposedly so close to agreeing a deal with DIC? Maybe we're not close to a deal with DIC at all and he's been invited back to the table? Whatever it is, I don't like it.
