So, nothing new here then, just more of the same outpourings from the same posters slagging off our current players.

      Shame on you.

By all means crave for improvements in the squad, but to constantly berate our players in public is shameful and not on.

Jesus, just looked at the statistics, give me strength, he's got 4 assists, along with Steve Finnan and Luis Garcia, hardly the most astounding statistic in the world is it?

I'll give you another misleading example from that about statistics to prove my point, Crouch has a 65% shot accuracy (I presume that's what it is), but what you don't see there is the amount of those shots that were very good goalscoring chances when he was in acres of space and tamely hit his shot or header straight at the keeper, see what I mean, doesn't exactly tell the tale of quality when you look deeper than statistics?

Its not an outporing mate, its a reasoned argument.

Crouch knew exactly where Kuyt was, and that Kuyt was in a better position than him.
The ball got to Kuyt, Kuyt scored a goal.
All the headed chances he's missed this season, and you continue to use his part in this GOAL to illustrate how poor he is?
              Quality!
Listen mate, I was using that example in reply to the message you made about the assists he did have being poor ones, to back up what I had said previously.

"All the headed chances he's missed this season", if you'd bothered to read my posts properly instead of being a smart arse you'd have read that I've mentioned those as well.

Instead of trying to belittle me and be a ****, come up with some evidence that he's a good footballer that you like to watch and has got the qality we need to push for the title!:bird:

Reply to my reasoned argument in this thread, if you can't be bothered to do that, then fair enough.

You're brilliant ElRobbie - I don't mean to wind you up, and sorry if I have. Don't go changing, k?
And I'm not trying to be a **** - I'm doing a bloody good job of it!

Ok - could you please respond to my post from yesterday, from the thread that was (unjustly, IMO) locked:

El Robbie, Kopite Colin - if Crouch is not the player we need, who is? Rafa wanted a particular kind of striker, and RvN or Michael Owen are not viable alternatives to a player like Crouch. Yes, granted they would score more goals, but it's all about the TEAM. Crouch's contribution has been immense since he's joined us. He's not perfect, but he's been very important for us.
Can you name me a better player who plays the same role that Crouch does with whom we can replace him? Just curious....

                  Thanks

Crouch has started 12 league games this season, scored 5 times and has 5 assists.

I already did reply mate, in a post about Mido where you mentioned it, you must have missed it, my answer was.....

I don't want to us to have a player who plays a Crouch role I want a more dynamic player and style of play in general for the team, why do we have to have a Crouch type player.

Arsenal and Man Utd don't use that type of player and they play the best football in the league.

Great, so we've lumped loads of long balls up to a tall player who's actually managed to get his head on a few, I still don't think we should be aspiring to play football like that, with players of his style and ability. It figures that if you play enough long balls to him at his height he's going to get on the end of a few, even someone who has very poor technique heading the ball like he does.

Maestro thinks he's a clever ****, well I challenge you all to watch the assist for Kuyt's goal in slow motion, it was hardly very purposeful or meant was it, it was a mis-hit header which luckily made it to Kuyt.

Whatever the statistics you throw up about Crouch, they are only that, statistics, I'm talking about real ability and football which is enjoyable to watch, yes ok, before any smart arse talks about his volleyed goals when he was completely unmarked only six yards out, great, at least he managed to get two on target, we all do now and again, even people who don't actually play football for a living.

The problem is ElRobbie, how or why do you expect people to argue with you on an adult level when you take such a critical and pessimistic view on the subject?

I think he is a very good flick header of the ball. It's not the type of football I would like us to play all the time but in some situations (such as against Chelsea) he is the ideal player to exploit weaknesses in other sides. He is a very aware player who often brings others into the game and is in many ways a quite stylish target man (in terms of play if not appearance). He does however lack power in his heading, just not sure that he is to blame for us exploiting his height with long balls which is at least as much a consequence of a lack of quality creative wingers.

For these goals his positioning and movement were the parts which a lot of players couldn't pull off. He also did it more than once and I have rarely see him try that sort of thing, so arguable it could be called good technique and a good choice of the type of shot to use.

I think Crouch is a good player. I like him and think he offers a lot to our squad, but I have said it before and I'll say it again he is probably not going to be a regular starter if we are to challenge for the league. Having said that I was thinking about wether I would take Howards £12m fictional offer for him, the answer is not at the minute but probably in the Summer.
