Here is a question, how many light up the league the minute they turn up? Given the amount of foriegn importd, how many get used to it straight away?
And why should Ronaldinho not get used to it?

No its not but which Premier League clubs do that? Premier League teams generally close down by going thru players. You stand still you get tackled. The same cant be said for leagues abroad, you get more time on the ball there.

I can only think of Zola and Ginola, at a push maybe Crespo.

Surely that's as much to do with changing cultures and teams than it is style of football.

Shame he arrived over here to get paid.

What? Most teams in the EPL close down very quickly and put pressure on the player with the ball. There is not a sliding tackle every 5 seconds.

No, almost all of the really talented players that have come to the EPL have gotten used to it. You cant compare Ronaldinho to Morientes.

Can you compare Ballack or Schevchenko?

Would be the most exciting player to come to the club and it would send shivers down the spine of all other teams to see us sign a player like this with our new owners.

Personally i doubt we'll have a chance, these sort of players normally sign for the likes of AC Milan, Real and Barca(at which he is already and may stay if they give him a biger contract)

There doesnt need to be a sliding tackle. The Premier League, you need to tackle. How many interviews with foreign players do you read were they all comment on how they are not used to being tackled like they are here?

In the premier League you get away with a lot more tackling or shoulder charging or whatever than you do in Europe.

How many times have you watched us play in Europe and seen fouls given against us which you know full well would not be a foul on a saturday afternoon?

Doesn't hurt to try does it.

I can't understand why some are so certain Ronaldinho wouldn't cut it over here. He's turned in impressive performances against the Chavs in recent years - who are as physical a side not named Bolton - he's strong, quick and techincally strong.

If Robert Pires can be a success then Ronaldinho certainly can. As far as I'm concerned it's a misnomer that flair players can't hack the hackers of our league. Skill will always win over physicality.

You said close down by going through players. The teams in England close down quickly and try to win the ball from the player as soon as he gets a pass. You can absolutely do that within the rules of European football.
I have spoken about this with a international Ref and he said the difference was mainly in the sliding tackles and stuff like when Pepe was sent of against Chelsea. I know some of the shoulder to shoulder would hamper the England team a little with a European ref but not to the extent that the could not play the English game in an international tournament.

They need more time and also if they make it also has to do with tactics of the team they play in, how well they adjust to a new life and so on.

How many players get tackled then end up on the floor? Players here get tackled, wether they end up on the floor or not makes no odds, how we play here would not and does not stand up to European/International referees regardless of who you have spoken to, you only have to watch CL or Uefa cup games to see that.

Again, how many times have you seen us or any British team play in Europe give away a free kick that wouldnt be a freekick on a saturday afternoon?
