Doesn't stop us wanting Alves in the summer though, despite him signing a new long term contract.Originally posted by dww View PostHopefully this will stop the constant rumours of us selling Luis in the summer.

The point I was trying to make was that we clearly want them to stay (you can't stop people wanting good players and every player has a price), whereas in the last few weeks there has been a lot of talk of how we would and indeed should sell Luis in the summer (although I admit much of it came from Marky19).Originally posted by lfc4ever View PostDoesn't stop us wanting Alves in the summer though, despite him signing a new long term contract."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Sorry, nothing was aimed at you directly, it was aimed at the point of contracts mean nothing except they prevent the player from leaving for free of course.Originally posted by dww View PostThe point I was trying to make was that we clearly want them to stay (you can't stop people wanting good players and every player has a price), whereas in the last few weeks there has been a lot of talk of how we would and indeed should sell Luis in the summer (although I admit much of it came from Marky19).
There is no-one I would sell or let go for free at the moment, however,
all players have a price
if any player wants to leave of course then they should be let go,
if any position can be improved upon, then improve it and allow the player in that position the option of fighting for his place or moving on

I just wanted to clarify what I was talking about.Originally posted by lfc4ever View PostSorry, nothing was aimed at you directly, it was aimed at the point of contracts mean nothing except they prevent the player from leaving for free of course."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Alonso keen on Reds extension
By Peter ORourke - Created on 26 Jan 2007
Liverpool star Xabi Alonso would be keen on extending his contract at Anfield, according to the player's representative.
Reports emanating this week have suggested Liverpool are preparing to begin talks with Alonso about keeping him at the club.
Alonso's future has been the subject of speculation in recent months with Atletico Madrid believed to be keen on luring him back to Spain.
The classy midfielder still has two years to run on his current contract and the player's agent Inaki Ibanez admits Alonso would be happy to make his stay at Liverpool even longer.
"At the moment there are no talks, but when Liverpool call we will answer them," Ibanez told skysports.com
"Xabi is very happy at Liverpool and he is enjoying playing there.
"The most important thing for Xabi at the minute is for him to concentrate on playing as he has a lot of important games coming up.
"When contract talks do come up he will be happy to talk to Liverpool about staying."

there's not one player in the premier league who deserves this accolade ahead of xabi. losing him would be a step backward. i hope what his agent said is true because i would be happy to see him in a liverpool shirt for a long time to come.Originally posted by The_Milkman View PostThe classy midfielder ...
when things go wrong, don't walk away.
that'll only make it harder.
