I think that's that's a bit OTT. He's clearly not ****. I think some good teams might have not bothered for two reasons.....they didn't need him/other priorities & also they proabably thought he was 100% Anfield bound, so why bother.

Good point GG he's clearly not **** and since he got the captains arm band of Blackandblueburn he's been impressive also his ability to play anywhere across the back would have been useful for us

Not really. Rafa has said many times he wants players who want to play for the club. He probably throws down a challenge to them, along the lines of, 'Join our squad and show us how good you are, make me play you every week' rather than 'here is X many thousand and you can play every week'. Id rather have the person who is wanting to fight.

I understand what your saying about players must show they want to join us and be prepared to work etc.
But when your faced with a situation where there is another one or two big european heavyweight team, who are bending over backwards to convince this player to join, and doing their best to welcome him, it can influence things.

As it should be. When has Rafa guaranteed a starting place to anyone on a regular basis? Would we even want him to? Competition for places is healthy and Lucas Neill can pretend that it's not about the money, but no-one believes him, and as for not feeling 'wanted' - boo-hoo, isn't it time he grew up and began to act like a professional, it's not like he's some teenager with an inferiority complex. ****!

Must be the only Australian sportsman in the world who hasnt got huge confidence in his own ability if he thought he might not play every week for us and would have to prove himself worthy of a starting berth. He is bound to have a clause in his contract which means he is for sale if they go down. Greedy ****er like him will want something liek that to ensure he keeps his high wage demands.
