And neither was Viera at Momo's age. If you watched him earlier in the season you will have seen that his distribution has improved leaps and bounds.

We beat Chelsea in the Charity Shield and Momo was excellent, bossed the midfield from the first whistle to the last.

He's a better footballer than a lot on here give him credit for. Yes his passing goes astray sometimes, but he gives us so much energy in the middle of the park it can do wonders for our team performance.

However, I don't necessarily think that he should waltz straight back into the team, although as I've said before I'd play him in the Noucamp.

I expect him to play agaist Barca. Rafa has a habit of playing as many signings from Spain as he can when we play Spanish opposition.

Sissoko should be third choise after Alonso and Gerrard. 4th choise, if we manage to sign Mascherano.

Just look at how we are winning these days. We are pressing high on the pitch, defending as a team and bossing the midfield. Teams hardly get a look in in most of our games. Even Chelsea.
Now just imagine Momo bossing the midfield with Gerrard just ahead of him providing pressure from above and being ready to go on the attack as soon as the ball is won. Add to that that our opposition will have an even harder time with creating chances.
With Momo back and all three of them playing we should be much stronger.
Saying that taking Pennant out for Momo to free up Gerrard to be more attacking will make us worse in attack is IMHO nonsense.

If the argument is that we will be a more attacking side with Momo instead of Pennant...well then, all bets are off.

It's just too stupid. I'm sorry it is.

Mascherano is a holding midfielder. A very different player than Momo. Much more like Alonso in stucture etc. More intelligent than dear Momo.

I can't see how Momo can become a really effective weapon for us until he learns the basic skill of passing and starts to show some E.P. on the final 1/3.

As it is right now he is a disruptive force and not much use when we're on the ball. I much rather have Gerrard at CM where he is best and Pennant wide right than Momo at CM and Gerrard on the right.

It's really not a tough call IMHO.

*sorry for the spelling I just can't be arsed checking it...*

Same old story. Players who dont look the part are underestimated.
Someone said just a few posts ago that his passing has improved a lot this season. If he manages to improve his passing and up his overall skill level( which in my opinion he can ) he can be a midfielder the world has never seen before. He has a good football brain and an aye for a pass and soon he will pull these passes of more often.
But in order for him to improve he has to play, regularly.
