                  Wasn't Mendietta one of the First players Rafa got rid of when he took over at Valencia (same as with Owen) ?

                  I dont think Rafa saw him as a Team player.

                            The only thing I remember Mendieta by is that he was the only Spaniard in Spanish squad of World Cup 98 (I think or 4 yrs later) that didn't play in Spain (he played for Lazio methinks)...
