    Diao leaves permanently

Salif Diao has brought his Liverpool career to an end and signed for Stoke City until the end of the season.
The Senegal midfielder has spent the last three months on loan at the Britannia Stadium and has now agreed to stay with the Championship outfit for the rest of the campaign.

"We have had a nervous few weeks waiting to get the paperwork sorted out to get Salif here," said boss Tony Pulis.

"But we are very relived to finally get him here on a permanent basis. You only have to look at the amount of points we gathered while he was here to see what an important player he is to this football club."

Diao signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2002 and went on to make 59 appearances for the Reds, scoring three goals.

      Another of Houllier's flops leaves!

Not many left now, Le Tallec and Pongo are on loan (although Pongo shouldn't be classed as a flop as he did wuite well), so that's probably it now of the 'French league' also rans!

F*ckin ell, there's hope for me yet!

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Never bitched, never moaned in the papers.

              Always tried hard.

Even had a few great perfoemances early on.

I won't miss him, but there are others who've worn the shirt deserving of less respect.

              Walk on Salif.

                  Agreed with that.

Decent performance at Leeds...can't think of much more. He had a good game in a 2-1 home win over Spurs, I remember, but that's about it.

In my opinion he pretty soon confirmed himself as one of the very worst players ever to wear the shirt. Couldn't pass the ball five yards without smashing it out of play. An agricultural heathen of a footballer if ever I've seen one.

Like someone said, fair play to him for knuckling down. Even though he wasn't up to much as a footballer, he seemed like a good professional.

I remember reading somewhere an urban myth that Houllier signed him by accident, meaning to sign Papa Bouba Diop.

Even Stevie says in his book he knew Salif would never improve the team and basically says he ws ****! Another world cup wonder who signed for a big club afta a half decent tournament!! Luk on d bright side we coulda shelled out £17million for dat sack of **** Savo Milosevic after a tournament!!

As for Pongolle and Le Tallec I wouldn't mind seeing them both back and what they are like now.

Le Tallec had a good game vs Juve in quarters of European Cup couple years back and carries abit of skill. Pongolle always lukd dangerous 4me with his pace so would not mind if they returned!!
                              El Nino!!
