    Lennon

Posted this on 6CM but thought it would be interesting to get some views from over this side of the border.

What a player. Still a bit raw but how our team cries out for a player like that. Was reading Gerry's thread and it reminded me of him. In the game last night, he beat the Arsenal players for fun, time and time again. With the likes of Kuyt and Crouch in our team, having someone like Lennon who hits the byline more (arguably) than any other in the league would be a massive asset to our first 11.

He is electric. One of the paciest, most quick footed players I've seen, with amazing balance and great skill. I wish we'd spend the bulk of our transfer kitty on a couple of players like him instead of bringing in 5 or 6 that won't make a significant difference to their respective positions.

I don't think Spurs would sell him. If they did the transfer fee would be at least £15m+.

Fair play to Spurs it was good business from them to buy him from Leeds for £1m.

He reccently signed a long term deal with them. But i agree he is top notch but could still work on a few bits. When you watch England play and Lennon on the pitch when Stevie gets the ball he is always looking to give it to Aaron. Its a shame Rafa thought he was to short and didnt take the chance to sign him for 1 mil (according to Elisha Scott!)

I'd agree with that much. He goes past people with amazing regularity and ease - but I'm yet to be convinced he's got enough quality in the end product stakes. His crossing is usually woeful.

In his defence he's obviously very young and that part of his game may develop. He's certainly a winger in the true, old-fashioned sense and for us to have such dynamic, attacking thrust down the right would be nice. My concerns remain though.

He'd cost an absolute bloody fortune so I'm not sure how realistic a target he'll ever be. Let's see how the DIC era pans out huh?

Good player but yet to be convinced he is (or will be) great.

S'true innit? Rafa was interested but ultimately decided he was too small to make it at the highest level. Pity, cos £1m was a bloody bargain.

I think that Rafa sees Alves as an equivalent impact player with the extra bonus of him beeing able to cover at right back.

I agree with you Dan, imo Rafa sees his 2 fullbacks interchanging with his two wingers if the Chelsea game is anything to go by.

Was thinking the same today Nic.

Id like to see him come to us a fine player will get better. He's a proper winger takes on defenders and can cross the ball

He signed a new contract recently and to buy him now would be a suicide for our budget.

And Spurs completed one of the bargains of the century when they nicked him from Leeds for only 1m

Agbonlahor is a better player than Lennon IMO and would probably be cheaper.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'll be gobsmacked if that Agbonlahor is anything other than an average Prem player, great pace and errrrrr..... great pace. He should be a sprinter. Decent finish against us mind but he'll always get a few like that because he's so quick, other than that he's got nothing in his locker and is a kick it 10 yards and sprint after it merchant.

Word for word, apart from the name, obviously, that could've been written about Cissé.

He has a lot more to offer than just pace. He reminds me of a young Henry, not as good as him of course but his playing style reminds me of him.

Haha, I was thinking about him the whole time I was writing it, although not in a weird way, just the footballing way
