Liverpool have entered the race for Benfica's Manuel Fernandes after a possible move to Everton looks to have fallen through.
Fernandes was set to join the blue half of Merseyside after he passed a medical at their Bellefield training ground but the fee remains to be a stumbling block for Bill Kenwright.
Benitez has been alerted that he could persuade Fernandes to join Liverpool with the lure of Champions League football. This will come as a huge blow to Everton who have lost James McFadden and Andy Johnson through long term injuries whilst selling David Weir and Simon Davies in the meantime.

Not positionally, it's how we got Momo though isn't it, sneaked him away from the BS. Didn't the boss read it in the Echo at the time that momo was avail and being signed by the BS?Originally posted by Red_Al_77 View PostWe have Momo. We don't need another.

We are looking really short in central midfield, we only have Gerrard, Alonso, Momo, Zenden, Maschareno on the way.
I think another 3 or 4 central midfielders are a necessity if we are to compete.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

LFC to steal another player from EFC?
Are we about to steal another player under the noses of Everton, just like we did with Sissoko? Lets hope he is as good as !

Isn't he meant to be some kind of wonderkid? Attacking midfielder isn't he?
Strange that he's played so little for Portsmouth. I heard there was some ludicrous clause in his contract, related to payments for every time he plays consecutive games
........hence Portsmouth aren't giving him a game?
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He's a m/f, thought he was upfront for pompey.http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174733 (page 4 is interesting)
The Momo reference was in regards as to how we signed him, not where he plays.Last edited by lfc4ever; 25-01-07, 09:59 PM.

I've never seen him play up front, always in midfield.Originally posted by lfc4ever View PostHe's a striker http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174733
