    Spurs want Crouch?

NEWS FLASH - SPURS IN SHOT AT CROUCH AS MIDO DEPARTS
    By Neil Silver

TOTTENHAM are making a bid to sign England striker Peter Crouch from Liverpool after agreeing to sell Mido to Manchester City.

Chairman Daniel Levy has asked manager Martin Jol to hand him a hit-list of strikers so he can swoop before the window closes on Wednesday - and Crouch is the name at the top of that list.

Liverpool have already knocked back an attempt by Newcastle to sign the 6ft 7in striker, who will be 26 on Tuesday.

But Crouch (pictured) has not been a first-choice player for boss Rafa Benitez and Spurs are banking on the fact he will be tempted by a return to London.

Ironically, Crouch started his career as a trainee at White Hart Lane in 1998, but was not fancied by manager at the time George Graham and he never made an appearance for the first team.

He was sold to QPR two years later before moving on to Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Norwich and Southampton, from where he was signed by Liverpool for £7million in the summer of 2005.

Another name on Jol's list is Villa hitman Juan Pablo Angel.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Doubt it will happen. Maybe the summer.

No time to get a replacement so there is absolutely ZERO chance of Crouch leaving this transfer window.

Well, none of that is true for a start, but supposing it were true, there are two reasons why it wouldn't work:

        a) There is no chance we'll sell in Jan as we'd be left short.

        b) Crouch is going to go from being 3rd choice at Liverpool to being 3rd / 4th choice at Spurs? Unlikely.

        Boring, rubbish story.

He can want whatever he wants but with 4 days left before the transfer window closes he won't be sold.

No obviously not without a replacement.

Unless Rafa has someone lined up on the quiet, but it's unlikely Crouch will go this window.

Maybe a swap for Defoe or Keane would be nice?

Unless we've got someone significantly better than him already lined up at this point, I wouldn't let him go right now. He'll be the one to cause Barca problems if nothing else. But 12m big ones for him would be nice. If Watford can push the price up to £9m for Young, we should try and milk this one for all it's worth, if we've got someone else lined up.

Defoe and Keane are both good players but they don't offer us what Crouch can so its a no brainer for me.

exactly, crouch will be here until the end of the season at least.
