Rafa Benitez was non-committal on reports that Liverpool are back in for Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt.
The Holland international has been heavily linked with a move to The Premiership, with Newcastle United watching him in action.
Reports have also claimed that FA Cup holders Liverpool are readying a £10 million bid for the prolific hit-man.
But while Reds boss Benitez is aware of the speculation, he refused to confirm if he had put in an offer for Kuyt.
"We have had some names, he is one of the names in the newspapers," Benitez told Sky Sports News.
"There is a lot of them. I was talking to two or three people, offering me five or six players, it's very, very common now."
Benitez has revealed he wants to sign a striker before the close of the transfer window and is happy to be patient in his quest for fresh faces.
He added: "We continue working and sometimes you finish signing players on the last day or the last minute.
"In this case we have time to continue working, trying to improve the squad."

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
