jokes aside, we are building up a nice collection of young players..surely a couple at least will make the grade."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Or from the Echo this morning:
Meanwhile, Benitez has signed Spanish central midfielder Francisco Manuel Duran. The 18-year-old has made four appearances for Segunda Division team Malaga.

It's always good to be able to strengthen the youth set up with talented youngsters but I'm still disappointed that for the second transfer window in succession, it looks unlikely that we'll have any back-up for Steve Finnan.
We'll be weakened immensely if he gets a long term injury as Carra needs to stay in the centre, Peltier is not good enough to play Right Back in the Premiership and Paletta is at least a season and a half away from realistically challenging for a first team spot.
For all that's been said about Neill, if circumstances had been different (i.e. if he wasn't a money grabbing mercenary who didn't understand the priviledge and honour he would have had in being able to wear the red shirt of the five times European Champions), he'd have been a good signing for us.
It's a shame that it doesn't look like there was a Plan B signing.

Reds recruit Spanish starlet
By Francisco Acedo - Created on 30 Jan 2007
Liverpool are on the brink of sealing the loan signing of Malaga teenager Francis Duran.
Reports in Spain indicate Reds boss Rafa Benitez has utilised his knowledge of the local market to bring the 18-year-old to Anfield on loan until June 2008, with an option to make the deal permanent.
The Segunda Division side have financial problems and had little chance of keeping hold of the player who does not even have a professional contract as yet.
Liverpool have yet to comment on the deal but Francis is expected to travel to Anfield on Wednesday. Malaga have stated he will move on loan for a fee of €100,000 (£66,000), with a further €400,000 (£264,000) needed to make the arrangement permanent.
Now the Malaga youngster admits he cannot wait to get to grips with English football and work under former Valencia boss Benitez.
"I have spoken with Rafa Benitez and I believe that this is the best option for me," Francis told Spanish media.
"To play in Liverpool is a dream for me and now I only desire to fight for a place at the club."
The Reds are working hard to recruit talented youngsters in the January transfer window and have already tied up deals for Jordy Brouwer, Astrit Ajdarevic, Daniele Padelli and Emiliano Insua.
