      Another weird thread.

Those boards are for adverts, not the 5 wizzing round the ground, or rings of fire.

They are also really distracting. I don't like 'em much.
      Oh I don't know.

I used to work for the BBC - trust me, the viewers at home absolutely hate them too.

Seen an article in the paper a few months back about these boards. They can bring in upto 10x more revenue by using them as each company has about 5 minutes "air time" when using them. So you have 18 slots (i.e 18 different companys paying you tons of dosh) to fill during a match, which is split up during the game.
It did say that WestHam and Fulham hire their boards from a company for Live games only.
“Hicks could have purchased Dallas’ MLS franchise but decided not to. ‘In hindsight, I probably made the wrong decision,’ he said.“.

Nah. Hate 'em. Would rather see the ones that change mechanically (hard to explain). I think I remember seeing them in Serie A grounds.

Like the adverts on the side of some bus stops?

Yes. That's exactly what I meant. You could still have a number of ads for the one space and they're not as distracting as the electronic signs.

you could still have electronic signs, just without stupid animations

Nah. Static boards advertise for the full 90 mins. Having you advert flash up every now and then, you'd pay less because you arent getting the same length of time exposure.
