This formation does appear to be working for us though.

I think we have played some good football every time we have played it.

Not sure about Raul. I think he would be more trouble and money than he is worth. If we did go down this route, there would need to be a change of personnel from what we have at the moment.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

We only play it against **** opposition. It is a good formation for games we will dominate against teams that have a **** defence. If we play it against a half decent team it's flas will be exposed.

I don't think that we will sign him but I can understand if Rafa want to speed up our game.

Of course he's a player Rafa rates. Rafa rated Morientes too, on the basis of what he'd seen in Spain earlier in their careers. And rightly so. A young, fit and hungry Raul was/would be some player. However, I think Rafa now knows enough about English fotball to know what a gamble it'd be. Our current strikeforce of Crouch, Bellamy and Kuyt are all hard working, team orientated players, and I suspect that's a pre-requisite too far for the player Raul is these days.

Apparently Insua, a 17 year old Argentinian with no Premier League experience and who isn't even in the first team for the Argy under 19's is going to be our first choice left sided player too.

I think this just adds to the evidence that teaching special children football management has no tangible benefits.

We could do that without Raul, stick Mascherano or Momo alongside Xabi and Gerrard in Rauls position.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

In fairness, Insua (who's just turned 18) did get a few games for the Argentina U-20 team and is the second youngest in their squad....but I agree with the rest of your post entirely.

Who's grumpy? Just asking what you were basing your comment "Rafa does seem to be a huge fan of Raul" on.
