so the question we ask after this is ..what the **** now? gillet takes over, the shareholder get more money, club gets into more debt. same thing united did, (although lets hope some supporters don't break away and form another club)...we'll still have more money to spend on players, the echo reports that gillet's not in favor of ground share so thats not an issue.
looking at it now the only problems i see is the debt, more pressure on rafa to deliver the premiership, dic buying arsenal or another club in the premiership and us being owned by an american .

DUBAI International Capital today dramatically abandoned their proposed £450m takeover of Liverpool FC.

The investment arm of the Dubai government confirmed at 4pm that they had ended negotiations with the club.

It came after Liverpool FC formally decided not to accept a bid from DIC.

At a meeting before last night’s match against West Ham, the board of directors said they needed more time to consider their options.

The move has shocked many who believed the club was on the verge of signing the deal with the super-wealthy investment arm of the Dubai government.

But it means George Gillett, owner of the Montreal Canadians ice hockey team, has got more time to push his bid to take over the club.

DIC had completed due diligence and were set to make a formal bid for chairman David Moores' 51.6% majority shareholding.

The club was expected to decide which offer to accept within the next few days.

I don't understand peoples antipathy to Americans in this thread. DIC were hardly a traditional Liverpudlian/English/British business. What is important is that we get owners willing to fund our new stadium, some new players and who have the ability to run the commercial side more agressively than we have been.
