This is information they need to be abreast of when the takeover happens. And contingencies need to be in place in case those contracts reveal something that could be problematic once the takeover is complete.

There's a lot more to it than just buying the club in a shot.

Well, if DIC were happy to buy us at 4.5k per share then they will have done due dilligance so Gillett doesnt need to do it, just beat their bid surely? Why waste time doing youre own, let someone else do it for you.

Do you think DIC revealed the results of their investigations to Gillett? I very much doubt it. And they shouldn't be relying on the results of someone else's investigations. And I doubt the conditions and warranties that the club would have made to DIC would extend to Gillett without the latter doing his own investigations.

The fact they wanted to buy us tells me the result. basically mate, if we are good enough for DIC, then Im sure Gillett sees us as good enough for him.

Mate, I dont doubt that for a second. But by not conducting thorough investigations he is being reckless. Aside from the fact that he could be grossly overpaying for the share acquistion, it could bite us in the ass when the takeover is completed. It's unlikely, but as far as I'm concerned it's not a risk he can afford to take because it is the club that could suffer.

But by getting 2 billionaires on board, its even more unlikey to go tits up. Yes its a risk but you dont get to be a billionaire without taking risks. The club is in no more danger than it would be if DIC took over. If he is over paying then thats his own fault, but he wouldnt be paying that amount unless he knew he was gonna get a return.

No matter what happens, if Gillett and Hicks complete the takeover next week then we need to show our class as LFC supporters and welcome them to the club. I really hope that some of our comrades don't go all Man Ure and start protesting about something they no **** all about in reality.

Thing is, once they aquire ownership we just have to trust these lads with our club just the same as if DIC had've taken us on.

Personally I don't give two ****s of a frogs fanny where they're from USA, Dubai, the moon, etc. Once they take us forward and make the right decisions I'll be happy.

I take your points on board. Certainly the entrepreneurial spirit of these two seems to be in stark contrast to principles of best practice.

Ignoring the risks, at the very least a full due diligence would ensure a smoother transition during the change of control.

How could they invest £450 million and not have due dilligence done? That is not possible, I think. I am jumping in late in the game and mostly a lurker and understand we all want what is best for the club, but this seems like a moot point to me; No one who has enough money to put in £225 million dollars got in that position by not knowing how to invest.

As for tradition, The Montreal Canadiens are one of the most tradition rich sporting clubs in North America and I think Gillett is a quality owner in a league that almost collapsed on itself a few years ago. On top of that, the Texas Rangers stadium is one of the most state of the art facilities in baseball; Getting a stadium built and done well is an experience that Hicks has sucessfully undertaken. Don't think that's a big deal? Ask the folks at Wembley.

As an American supporter, I don't care one way or the other; Having these two own the team doesn't make me feel closer to the side or anything. I am already hooked! But I do know that Liverpool needs fresh blood in the Board room, people willing to capitalize the side in the new era of big money football, in order to win and win big. I'm willing to welcome them and give them a chance to shine. As much as I hate to admit, things aren't so bad over at Old Toilet this year are they? Not all American influence is sh*t.

It's not the American thing that concerns me the most (although it does raise the issue of how much these guys know about football and about the club) it is the astounding speed at which this deal has been done.

Obviously they've done due diligence, but you cant tell me in 3 days they have done a thorough job of it. And to me that is not prudent business practice.

Yah I agree Paul, we will jsut have to get on with things. Nothing we say on here is gonna change a thing, we can al pull our hair out, or what we have left of it, but whats that gonna achieve, nothing, sure we all love LFC, and we can continue to do so no matter who takes over. We are heading in the right direction under Rafa, and for any new investor to get a return, they will need us to be successfull which means investing in players Im really tired of all this investment crap tbh, finding it hard to even read these posts. Cant wait for the derby tomorow
