    Gerrards Book

    Does it actually get good?

I've read the first 2 chapters and there's only so many ways you can actually describe how much you liked football as a kid, and he's done that now about 50 times.

    Is it worth carrying on?

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Well I finished it. It's nowhere near as entertaining as Fowler's book of course, but it should only take a few hours to finish and he obviously relives the CL Final again, so I'd say soldier on.

I've not read it, but that does sound like the standard format for a footballer's autiobiography so I should probably save yourself some time and skip to about half way through - he should be in the first team by then.
What have I learned, Mr Mackay? Three things. One - bide your time. Two - keep your nose clean. And three - don't let the *******s grind you down

I agree that Fowlers book was much better, I had a job to put it down. With SG's book I had a job to pick it up. I did go through it, but i did skip a chapter or two if i remember. The champions League section was quite good though.

I'm reading it at the moment and I'm struggling to finish it. I'm coming up to the Champions League chapter so hopefully it gets better.

So I'm not alone then! I've not exactly been convinced, looks like I'll skip a few chapters then.

After Donnie Brascoe and Killing Pablo this is like an endurance test.

I thought it was miles better than Fowlers.

Intriguing insight to Liverpool and England from late 90s onwards.

Killing Pablo is indeed a really good read.
The Dark Side Of Camelot by Seymour Hersh is on the same level - tells the secrets about the wild life of John F. Kennedy - he wasn't only into peace and Berliners...

Hmmm...must say it didn't intrigue me in the same way.
SG's book also lacks the humour and the frankness of Robbie's book.
That is in no way a slight on SG....Robbie is a very funny man and has more liberty to be frank and revealing as his career is winding down.

May be, but I didn't find Robbie's book at all revealing, while if anything Gerrard was surprisingly honest about past and present managers/players.

I found the whole England saga a bit nausiating, how much he admired John Terry, Rio & Fat Wazza.

A really good footballers autobiography is Paulo DiCanio's, the man is mental he fights with everyone, highly entertaining
