Young Hammill making a big impression.

On a day where Liverpool's inability to play on the wings was one of the more frustrating aspects of the Merseyside derby, loanee winger Adam Hammill made a start for Dunfermline and supplied the cross that led to the game's solitary goal which saw the Pars knock out holders Hearts from the Scottish cup.

By most accounts, it was a superb performance by the Liverpool youngster who was described as 'outstanding' by the Guardian and voted the man of the match by virtually every major paper.

Even more interesting are the fans' comments on the www.dafc.net forum. One supporter, Ronnie Wutherspone, said "Hammill's performance in a Pars jersey today was one of the best I've seen in 25+ years of watching the team. I couldn't believe how many times he seemed to have overrun it or been blocked out and would suddenly appear with the ball and multiple Yambos trailing in his wake.

That their first choice full-back was subbed, and the sub was then petrified to get caught 1-on-1 by him, says it all."

Another, Larbert Par, opined that "He was absolutely magnificent, scintilating performance. Saw off 2 Hearts full backs and gave the Jambos the runaround all day. I'm confident he'll be a Liverpool regular in a couple of years and a future England player if he keeps playing like that. The only way Hearts could stop him was to bring him down, but he kept getting up,continued to look for the ball and run at them again."

good to see him playing well. They are really praising him up there.

Now where can we download this game then?

Maybe we have the next star from the youth program coming up.

He will benefit from playing games, that's the plus point but as to the level of game being played up there, I ain't too sure.

Is he 18 or a bit older ?

He turned 19 a few weeks ago. Here's a link to the match report, worth a quick scan...

There's a massive difference between a Scottish Cup game and the EPL though.

good reading that, no question, the boy has alot of talent, He just needs to make his performances consistant.
If there was a player he could possibly remind me of its that Joaquin chap from Betis.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                  Oh good call.

I've only seen Hammill play two or three times but his style is indeed reminiscent of Joaquin's. Almost hunched and very direct, with very quick feet.

To be honest, we could've done with exactly that yesterday - someone who is able to get round the back. Pennant seems totally and utterly incapable of beating a man, and still persists with this bizarre habit of cutting inside onto his shamefully weak left foot.

I couldn't understand why Gonzalez wasn't brought on to try to do exactly that - it was clear we were having no joy.

He's actually more like a Denilson (before he went to Real Betis and turned ****) or Cristiano Ronaldo... has step overs, back heels, flicks and in general quite an extravagent player. Has a fantastic eye for goal - likes to shoot from any distance especially long. He scored a brilliant goal from the half way line last year in the fa youth cup at Anfield.

To be honest, I have been a bit gutted in the past with the lack of first team opportuinties that the likes of Anderson and Hammil were getting.
We have been scouring the globe for a right winger, only to end up with Pennant, who is average, when clearly, we have two of the best right sided young players in British football. I know, both players have struggled to live up to the hype recently (Anderson expecially) but I also think mosr encouragement (by playing them) and balls from the managent (by picking them) is neeed for them to fulfill their potential. Otherwise we could just end up with a team full of Richie Partidge type players who wil end up plying their trade at a lower division team.
With all the new investment coming in too, i do worry about their chances in the future.
Loaning them out is a good option though, and im delighted to see Hammill making such an impact in Scotland.

I seen the goal, but remain convinced his is more like Joaquin, than Denilson or Ronaldo.

I've watched him play a fair few times. He's one of those cheeky ****ers who likes to patronise defenders with flamboyant skill and then gets past them (and ocasionally get chopped down!). Read an interview he did about a year ago and he see's himself in the Christiano Ronaldo mould and after seeing him play I can see why. He's not as quick as Christiano but but probably has a better end product than him (allthough Christiano has improved this area of his game a hell of a lot this year)

very high opinion to have of a player after a couple of senior appearances for a scottish league side.
Realistically, he has a long long way to go before being put in the same braket as these players. Guess we will have to wait and see with him.

I'm not putting him in the same mould as these players. Just saying he could be potentially become a player in that bracket. i've rated him since last year when he was playing for the youths. apparently he has a bit of an attitude problem though
