    Shameful

I've been watching Liverpool for over 25 years, and derby games are always the ones I look forward to. Not because the quality of football is great, because usually it isn't, but because it always reminds me of 2 boxers standing in the middle of the ring for 12 rounds trading punches. It's not pretty, but it shows the passion this game represents.

I know we never played well on Saturday, but I have never seen an everton side play a derby with such a complete and utter lack of ambition.

They played like a small team, and ****ed up a match I've been waiting for the whole season

Which they'll be more than happy to take!

    Derby Games 06/07

    Everton 4 points
    Liverpool 1 point.

    They'll be loving it.

Agreed. Very disappointing from Neverton, complete lack of ambition.

Someone said 'we'd be happy to play like that vs Barcelona and get 0-0', er, no I'll be very unhappy.

That's pretty much how we played in Juve in 2005 though no? Doubt many were complaining then.
I have no problem with Everton playing like that, it's frustrating, but it is their right.

I bet we created far more

Anyway, there's a world of difference between needing a draw or risk having to try and win 3-1 and Saturday where Everton, had they won, could have gone into the European places by winning their game in hand

I hate them and it made for a terrible game but I can't blame any team for coming to Anfield and defending. Yes they sat back but our attacking play was poor as well. We couldn't break down a defence with Alan Stubbs in it FFS!

I remember earlier in the season Wenger complaining about teams coming to the Emirates to defend and get a point and I thought he was moaning again. It is any different for us? We have to be able to beat teams who do this.

It was an off day for us. Plain and simple.

              That was me

It would be wrong by Rafa to play any different. If we play attacking football against Barca then we will be knocked out. If we play good defensive football then we have a good chance to knock them out.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'm not saying gun-ho attacking football

But, we have to take them on and actually create our own chances. Neverton's only chance came from our own error

                    Don't really see the problem.

They played to their strengths and hoped to hit us on the break. They could easily have taken all 3 points too, if it hadn't been for Reina's save.
What do you want them to do, roll over and let us tickle their tummies while we waltz to a 4-0 victory? They only do that when they play Man U.

Moyes got his tactics right, we weren't able to respond. Bottom line.
It would have been a totally different game if that effort from Crouch early on had gone in.

Even when we were winning titles every year we often failed to beat them. At least they didn't resort to 60 yard back passes to the keeper as they did when ending our unbeaten run in 1988.

If I was an Evertonian,I'd be feeling quite happy at my team's performace this morning. I'd also be clinically insane, but that's neither here nor there.

But to call it shameful reeks of the kind of bitterness that we associate with them.

                      Agree 100%

It must be pretty depressing being a fan of a smaller club and having to pay to watch **** like that week in week out.

I felt sorry for the likes of Red Polo who'd paid to come up from London to watch that bollocks. At least I didn't have to go far. Still paid for the bloody ticket mind.

LFC played like that at the Now camp a few years ago.

That was proper backs to the wall stuff, with Cara playing out of his skin to keep us in it.
                          Oh I don't know.

                            Too true...

Not one person complained when we went to the Nou Camp and played 0-0-10 and got a scoreless draw. We were pillored from all angles for ruining football.

To be fair most savvy people have been bemoaning OUR tactics rather than criticise Everton... who IMO did a good job.

Yeh, nothing shamefull about it at all.

When you're going to a team with a record of 10 wins, 2 draws and 3 goals conceded in those games - and you have a much inferior squad? Moyes would have been stupid to play it any other way.

When you're the manager and the buck stops with you pragmatism wins out every day....

...."Any team that concedes as few goals as we concede is going to be tough to play against..." - Fernando Torres on Liverpool

And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left

                              A defensive mid for £18m?
