The suggestion is they will create a "plaza"

With retail outlets / apartments / office space surrounding the green space
The thing I dont understand about that is.
The Park is Public open space, where as the new Plaza would be Private open space. Under planning law, the two are very different.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

It all has to bring revenue/jobs into the area in return for the problems moving will cause some local businesses/people.

"The Plaza will be a tourism attraction having a hotel, bar/restaurant, a minimum of 1.6 hectares of high quality public open space, shops, community uses, residential and offices.

The contents of the plaza is based on community consultation carried out in July 2003.

The total gross floor space projected in the outline planning permission is 16,660 square metres. It is envisaged that 640 jobs will be directly created by the scheme and nearly 450 indirectly.

Work is expected to start in the winter of 2008 and be completed in 2010."
Are there plans available on the Liverpool Council website?.

I'd like to see pictures of the proposed Anfield Plaza. Hopefully, Liverpool FC will own this development so they can get rent from all the shops, bars and possibly a hotel if they do one.

You've got the land from the old stadium and the surrounding streets in which the property has been vacated. I imagine they'll redevelop the whole thing as a plaza or square with a Liverpool themed hotel (the running of which could be outsourced to a hotel chain), bars, food outlets and shops. The centre-piece would be the old pitch. Outlines on the floor could indicate key locations, like the tunnel, the boot room etc with plaques and signs to explain the history and bronze statues of Liverpool legends around the place. Make it a sort of open air museum.
No! I am NOT in denial!
