Paris St Germain have called for Djibril Cisse to be slapped with a three-month suspension for the challenge which broke Mario Yepes' ankle. PSG will be without the influential defender for the rest of the season after he suffered the injury in a clash with Cisse during the draw with Marseille.
Cisse - on a season-loan from Liverpool - has distanced himself from the incident, although PSG chairman Alain Cayzac has called for the striker to be punished.
Cayzak cited the case of PSG striker Pierre-Alain Frau as an example, Frau having been hit with a two-month suspension for a tackle on Sedan's Stephane Noro earlier in the season.
"It is a massive blow for the club, and my first thoughts are with Mario," Cayzak said.
"It is important for us to know what is the rule or the law for such a case, because we want equality.
"Mario's season is over. He has to have scans in order to know whether surgery is required or not - although that won't change his unavailability.
"In Frau's case, there had been a link between the suspension and Noro's unavailability period.
“I don't want to set up as a judge, but it is important to see what will happen Thursday evening after the league's discipline commission meet.
“Perhaps they will watch the video.
“My problem now is to think of Mario and to see if Frau's suspension was a one-off or a general case.
“If it is a rule, it has to be the same for everyone.”
PSG are fourth from bottom in Ligue 1, just one point above the relegation zone.
