Don't see the fuss about Lahm. His defending was very ropy in the World Cup. Every time I've seen him, he just seems like a two footed Riise.

A two footed Risse is a very usefull player.
As is a left footed one.

Ok, can we just put a few things straight, in the style of Whitters.

1. Vicente is a crock FACT
2. Pedersen is ****, but can score good goals FACT

I remain baffled by people liking Pederson. He is a decent player, but we need top class creativity to add to a good shot. Our problem has been that against tightly packed defences we don't create enough clear cut chances. If MGP came to us he would find more players between him and the crashing drive at goal and be distinctly average.

I think Riise has mainly been a liability this year. He's the weakest player in our defence and has been fairly ineffective going forward too.

Exactly. We've already got two midfielders (three if you include Kewell) who aren't averse to crashing in 30 yard screamers. We need the player to play the killer pass or to be able to beat a few men using skill rather than pace. Ok, it's not an easy rebate for choosing a signing, but someone like Ronaldinho is exactly what we need.

How is VdV doing this season does anyone know. He looked excellent last year in Germany.

I like both Quaresma and Simao as players but they have both had problems settling at clubs and don't immediately strike me as having the willingness to take the physical nature of the premiership in their stride.

Would have loved to have got Vicente when he was fit but now we have Aurelio and Kewell to hold down the left side in the physios room I can't see him being worth bringing in.

I'd like to see Micah Richards at right back, the lad is strong as an ox and very athletic. Finnan is getting on a bit so it would be good to have a rest every now & then just like Hyypia.
At left back I like the look of Lahm actually. Very good defender and good going forward.
Alves must be signed to occupy the troubled right wing area. Pennant is ok but not the best option.
Alves is having a blinding season just like last year.
Up front I'd like to see DAVID VILLA. He's 25, scored goals and Spains #1 striker.
If I'm pushed to go for another player then it must be a CB. Carra & Agger is not enough so I would go for PUYOL if he wants to leave Barca.
I can see a RED team next season as this

i like pedersen he has the prem experience gets nearly 10 goals a season in a **** side usually scores against utd so i like him. creative midfielders that spring to mind diego, kaka, riquelme (he can't get a game at villareal at da min) we really need someone with flair and creativity to cut defences apart!

Agree about Alves, Richards (and you correctly stated Finnan's getting on a bit and deserving a rest, not because of his form, which is impeccable, but because of his deserving a rest), agree about Villa, he's amazing and not beyond us (he came out yesterday with a new statement that he's 'happy in Valencia for now').

Dont agree about Puyol, doubt he'd come anyway. He's just a bit too old for my liking, half-decent player though and a real leader.

I never understood the rating of Puyol, his defensive ability is not great. He is decent, but no more and he has stupid hair.

I wouldn't Mind Klose or Villa, I don't think Torres is a good enough finisher to be what we are looking fo in a striker. Alves has impressed me when I have seen him too.

Good point about Puyol getting on a bit, forgot about that & as I said IF he wants to leave Barca.
LAHM is still young so I think under Rafa he will improve defensively. Bayern are goin' through a rough patch at the mo so there might be a clear out in the summer if they dont improve their position in the Bundesliga this season.

Thing is, if Bayern hang on to Hitzfeld (which I believe they will, considering he's been there and done it on all levels not only for Bayern), I doubt he'd let Lahm go. Never say never though. Heinze'd be a good shout. But then again, who knows lol

Aye, but generally players ability is inversely proportional to the quality of their haircuts. Except with Cisse.
