The naming rights are not like a shirt sponsorship when the team travels all over the world. Arsenal's stadium is in the capital, where a majority of business in the UK is focussed. Everyone in that huge city will see "The Emirates stadium" every day.
Anfield area is very much dependant on LFC for it to survive, it's not a thriving metropolis.

To be honest the Emirates Stadium is hardly Central London and the only people that will see it are the local residents and arsenal fans/away fans.

Ashburton Grove is nowhere near centre of town or where any big business is conducted. The only people that will see it (other than on TV) will be locals, or people going to the stadium. It's the media exposure in places like Asia and now America that will make sponsoring new Anfield more attractive than Ashburton, IMO.

Wow, hadn't read through the thread but pretty much put down exactly the same thing. London will not be the pull for sponsors. Live matches will be.

We'll end up playing in the Addidas Stadium but you do wonder where it will all end. How long before we are known as Addidas Liverpool or some such name. For an old timer like me, well I'm 40 now , you can't help but be a little sad about it all.

Sad as it is we have to move on. The reason the board and ownership were allowed to get away with not taking us anywhere for so long was because there are so many LFC fans living in the past. yes, it's great to be nostalgic and look back on what we were but we need to get to the next level - we ain't gonna do that standing still - as have been proved in recent years!

That's funny that you mention Germany as nearly EVERY stadium in Germany has sold it's naming rights, BayArena, AllianzArena, RheinEnergieStadion Cologne, AOLArena, Daimler Stadion, AWG Arena, etc. etc.
