    Rafa must think it's christmas...

After his ordeal with valencia directors, then his difficulty with liverpools finances, he must think that a mill stone has been taken from around his neck. He has to be delighted about this. I mean, who wouldn't! He has done so well with his limited funds, in both the first team and the youth set up...he has a definate eye, the proof is there. The future must look very rosy for rafa, his team plans and and an end to his frustrations in his inability to complete 'fairly' in the transfer market....

if only i was a manager (in any industry) with his credendials....and a new super wealthy chairman(s)...i would be feeling peachy.

He could also be thinking we now have the money to repace him if he doesn`t bring home the League inthe next 2 season`s.

Thing is, assuming he does get the cash we really do need to be challenging for the league. There won't be any more excuses that can be peddled out, we'll have a top manager, top players(current), new owners, plenty of cash (we think), and when you add some new top class players to what we allready have, if it's not enough to win the league then I'm affraid it's going to fall at Rafa's feet. Let's all hope he can do the job we all want him to do the most.

this is what i don't understand, rafa has, since he has been in charge, had a constantly shifting squad. I personally think what he wants is core team which he has strived for but not had the funds to achive....

He's more likely thinking "I thought I left these stupid ****ing club politics behind in Spain"...

IMO, if things go to plan financially then Rafa can have no more excuses regarding competing on a level playing field.
The next hugely important step is to ensure that money is invested wisely in players who can take us to the next level - no more mediocrity who are basically squad players.
As much as i am a huge Rafa fan, there is a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that Rafa may squander this opportunity.
              Obviously hope im proved wrong.

I dont see anything to substantiate that viewpoint.

Since he's been here, where Rafa's spent big, he's generally spent well.

Morientes & Pennant aside, his more expensive signings - Alonso (£10.5m), Garcia (£6m), Reina (£6m), Agger (£5.5m), Crouch (£7m), Kuyt (£10m), Bellamy (£6m), Sissoko (£5m) have looked sound.

Most of those, the £5m-£6m lot, arent even BIG signings in money terms, but they just highight how far Rafa has had to make his budget go.

If he can get those type of players for just £5m, i dont see why he cant bring even better players with more money to spend.

He wont have to look at a £10m player and settle for a £4m alternative, because of a tight budget.

I'd have thought our plans for summer will only revolved around 2 maybe 3 players, but I'd think we would pull the stops out to land those targets.

Very sound buys these are and he managed to sell Mori for 3m.
so he recouped half the transfer fee for him but Mori´s fee was never going to rise given his age.

He has also had to sell quite a few players and I´m assuming Cisse will go in the summer so there is another 6-8m. for the budget, Kirky went for 3m. I think so he´s had to sell some players to buy, his net spend isn´t extraordinary rather just what I expect of a top 4 club. Crank it up a notch and we might get somewhere.
                    * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I think rafas spending has been less (relatively in terms of average transfer prices) than all the previous modern era lfc managers since kk

£100m figures exist only in the fantasy worlds of the likes of david moist. the mans had to sell owen, heskey and deal with the likes of diouff, cheyrou and diao on the payroll.

on the 2 occasions hes spent big - and i define that as the £10m bracket - he has struck gold with alonso and kuyt.

he has brought a large group of players in the £5-6m bracket: nando, crouch, garcia, pennant etc and these have been a bit more hit and miss and a load of players on lower fees.

Hes NEVER got anywhere near the kind of record fees we used to pay out for kk, or beardo or collymore like his predecessors did.

I think that even if he could have unlimited funds, he wouldnt buy on hype or reputation. i think he knows the players he wants in the world game and very shortly, hell be in a position to buy them. I think lfc has just taken a huge step forward

I don't think Rafa will spend big just because he now has the funds...he has set his sights on targets over the last couple of seasons (Villa, Alves, Simao etc) and missed out on them cause we could not cough up an extra million or two. Now he can pursue these same targets without financial restraints!!
