    Alonso v's Fabregas

Just to open a little bit of debate here on EST1892 today. Would anyone swap Alonso for Fabregas?

Don't shoot me down too quickly, I'm a massive fan of Xabi and think he is a perfect Liverpool player in the greatest tradition of the club. His passing, positioning, touch, vision and control of the game is amazing. I would never like to see him leave but watching the second half of the Arsenal game last night and seeing Fabregas (played a 100 games for Arsenal and he is still only 19!) I couldn't help but question if I was Liverpool manager would I swap Alonso for Fabregas. I couldn't make up my mind.....

In time, Fabregas will be the better player.

    The boy is outstanding.

2 different type of player really mate, Alonso pulls the strings whilst the likes of Fabregas puts away the chances and creats further up the pitch

I wouldnt swap one for the other because of the different type of player they are, Cesc is class though, I expect he will cause us problems when we play the Arse...

I would never want to sell Xabi he is class.
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess the majority of Arsenal fans wouldn't swap Fabregas for Alonso and most LFC fans wouldn't swap Alonso for Fabregas! Both fantastic players, playing for top clubs.

Both are quality players - i'm amazed how good fabregas is for such a young age.

At the moment I'd say no - but who in knows, in 2-3 years time if Fabregas keeps developing and improving it will be a very difficult choice

Woof, a really difficult one. Really I'd cheat and have both, some midfield that'd be! If Spain can't get their act together in a major tournament with those 2 marshalling their midfield for most of the next decade then they never will

We need Alonso more than we need Fabregas at the minute. So I wouldn't swap them, but Fabregas is a class act. He came on enormously last year in terms of body strength and competing for the ball, he is the best young midfielder in the PL by a long way.

Fabregas is freaking awesome for someone so young. People talk of him maturing and getting better with age. But I can't help wondering if maybe he will burn out before he reaches his peak?...

That said, we don't need him as Captain Fantastic plays his position.

Would you swap Momo for him?

Fabregas will never be as good as xabi.

Don't forget that Xabi is still young and he will improve alot too.
