Hopefully we aren't replacing our french youth players with spanish ones.
Its good to see that we aren't losing focus on bringing in good youth even though we have now got a bit of financial muscle behind us.Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.
Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

Exactly, he must have been told to put an M on his shirt, and now it becomes clear as to why, so wonder how for long this has been in the pipeline then?Originally posted by tomasjj View PostAt least now we know why Speedy has M. Gonzalez on his shirt....

It's £1.5m for a 19 year old. Just cos we're likely to have a bigger budget to spend it doesn't mean we'll just stop buying youngsters. Also, it seems this one's been lined up for a while.Originally posted by ElRobbie View Post"Top class signings who will improve the squad"?????
This clearly isn't a signing ready made for the first team. I suspect Rafa means the next bunch of signings for 'now', rather than the future, will be top class. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Rafa really can't win can he. No one complains when Wenger spends upwards of £10m last year on young prospects. How many people were yelling for us to sign up Armand Traore for £3m. Noone, so lets just give him a chance shall we.Originally posted by ElRobbie View Post"Top class signings who will improve the squad"?????"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I hear you completely but at 19, is he really that much of youngster though? In footballing terms.Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostIt's £1.5m for a 19 year old. If you look on the scale of things, if a player like this is to have an impact at a big club like ours, then he already has to be a pretty good player by that age in my eyes.
I mean, is this lad a REAL prospect or is he just another young player who has a small chance of making it into the first team?
I don't suppose its that much different to Mark Gonzalez, who has still yet to prove himself, we'll see I guess.

Spaniard snubs Reds switch
Liverpool target Iriome Gonzalez has snubbed a move to Anfield and intends instead to continue his football education at hometown club Tenerife.
Rafa Benitez is a keen admirer of Gonzalez, 22, and was hoping to make the player his first signing in the wake of Liverpool's American takeover.
However Gonzalez does not believe he is ready for a move to the Premiership, even if he acknowledges the allure of playing for The Reds.
The player's father and agent, Bernardo Gonzalez, confirmed the decision.
"We are grateful for the interest from Liverpool but the player's desire to stay must come first," said Gonzalez senior.
"Liverpool is a great club but it means a lot to Iriome to play for his hometown club."
