wait......how do u know that nobody in Malaysia buy the original jerseys? did u learnt of this first hand or are u just making a guess?
i have 7 original LFC jerseys with me, 5 reebok ones and 2 adidas, and not to mention numerous other original LFC shirts and trainers....all purchased from shops locally.
Last december, the adidas shop here sold out all the new adidas home jerseys.
The problem here is, only non-muslims will buy and wear our jerseys because muslims are prohibited from wearing anything associated with alcohol.

It would be lame to be paid less than Spurs and Chavs, if this turns out to be true.

Plus, wasn't the Chavs' deal done before they were champions? So that can't be used as an excuse. There's really no reason to be behind these teams, other than poor negotiating. I'd be surprised if we settle for this.

if that amount is being offered, we would be stupid to reject it.

For us to be insightful in the sponsorship game then we need to look at the big brands that are known world wide and are recognisable around the world.

Mobile phone companies are around that arent associated with footy here, such as Nokia, or Sony Ericsson who are trying hard to gain more market share from Nokia. To increase their awareness worldwide I think this could be a good opportunity.

Virgin Atlantic could be another one. As well as the computing companies such as Microsoft or Dell and car companies. Companies such as Toyota, Renault and Honda spend masses on PR in F1 there are opportunities there as well.

These companies could be willing to pay a lot for their names on our shirts and could be worth a world class player a seaon or even help fund part of stadium costs.
                Quit your jibber jabber!!!

Jermaine, you know the song Billie Jean...is it about the tennis player??

The Asian markets are vastly over-estimated for the exact reasons you have said

Fakes cost buttons the originals cost a fortune

There was an article a few months back (think it was in the FT) which stated that the entire Asian market was worth something like £1.5 million in merchandise marketing to Premiership clubs of which Man U had a 50% share
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Surely these sub-standard sponsorship deals are a symptom of our poor marketing, not a cause of it? Things take time to change. At least it is a significant improvement on our last deal.

I have stopped buying the shirts as a result.

Its a shame as I want to wear the shirt of the club I support, but even some of the associated branded clothing have Carlsberg written on it such as polo shirts and t-shirts. Its results in me spending less and less each year which is a shame, as the club gets less of my money and I dont get to wear the gear

The deal is the best so far but there has been a lack of foresight here by the club. The only way our worldwide turnover will increase is by making changes such as this.

Fans complain about us previously not being able to generate the turnover like some of our rivals can, this is an area where we could seriously increase turnover given the right branding.
I'm straight edge, and I wear the shirt.

Yes , I realise that more money may equal better players , but I'm sure Rafa will get the backing regardless. This deal is for 3 years and will mean that the stadium will be ready for a joint sponsorship deal with the kits

I only give a **** about being better than Spurs , not richer than them , should we put our ticket prices up to £50+ a match so we can match them in that respect too?
At last someone with a bit of sense. How people seem to think that we are suddenly too good for a sponsor that has supported us through years of underachievement, just because we have some investment, and we as fans think that we are suddenly better or at last equal to clubs who have won multiple championships in recent memory, beggars belief.

****in hell, every time there is some sort of riot or war somewhere on the news you always see some **** in a fake Utd shirt in the back ground doing a bit of looting.
