Sometimes Rafa just baffles me........I thought these were the types of games Rafa bought Crouch for. Tough away games in the middle of winter when playing attractive football would be difficult. Crouch should have started this game with Kuyt on the bench.....as for Zenden don't get me started........******

We definitely missed Alonso but then again he needed his rest after his performance against Everton. Hopefully he'll be ready for the Barca game.Originally posted by Robster007 View PostI feel we missed Alonso today, but we do need at least a couple more.
Not sure what's happened to Riise this season.
We need a left back, a left sided midfielder, a proper goal scoring striker and may be even a **** hot right sided midfielder.

Lets be honest here, Newcastle are crap. On top of that they've still got loads of players out injured. Their defence is appalling, yet we somehow missed so many chances that we lost a game we should have won at a canter. In a nutshell our forwards aren't good enough. all are useful but none of them are up to the highest standard. Bellamy has pace to burn but is a poor finisher. Kuyt works hard but is a limited player. He has no real pace, is not brilliant in the air & isn't a good finisher. Crouch is good on the ground but isn't strong enough phsyically. Plus he has no pace at all.
Imagine a player like Owen or Fowler at their peak in this side. They'd score a hatful. thats the quality of player we need in the summer. 2 top notch forwards.AKA Heighway No9

Owen will never get his pace back and that was the main (some would say only) difference between him and any other striker...Originally posted by Sir Bob View PostWell at this very moment he's not a class apart as he's injured but when he's fit again he will be a class apart from any of our forwards.

Without wanting to open up the whole Owen debate again, even if he doesn't ever quite get back to the player he once was, I still believe he's a better player than any of our current forwards.Originally posted by rushscored4 View PostOwen will never get his pace back and that was the main (some would say only) difference between him and any other striker...

Sorry mate but no. Owen is a limited player and relied on his pace when he was younger.Originally posted by Sir Bob View PostWithout wanting to open up the whole Owen debate again, even if he doesn't ever quite get back to the player he once was, I still believe he's a better player than any of our current forwards.

Originally posted by Sir Bob View PostI think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one mate.
And as I'm with Fredo Sir Bob has lost the debate by the same score the Reds suffered today...Originally posted by fredo View Post

Just got in from the match. couldn't see if it was a pen from where i was sitting but I was less than impressed with the reaction from Newcastle when Dyer ran off celebrating it like he had scored the winner in the cup final. Was it a stone cold pen?A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.
