then I'd go for Liverpool winning the premiership every time.

    However, if it's phrased

It might seem like divided loyalties, but it's really a case of choosing one pretty unlikely event (England winning the World Cup in my lifetime) vs a very likely event (Liverpool winning the Premiership many times in my life)

(These are all stupid hypothetical questions - we don't want to get into this sort of logic - fact is it's possible to enjoy both, and I distance the two)
I'm sure you mean to say the right things but I stand by my earlier comments. However, don't take my word for it, try this little experiment: go to a Liverpool match draped in a St George's flag and start chanting "Ingerland" and see what response you get...

      That's just stupid.

      They're 2 completely different, non-competing teams.

If other Liverpool fans hate England then fair enough, and I even understand some of the reasons, however just because I support England doesn't make me any less of a fan.

I bet Rocket and Kaip would love to see Wales win the World Cup ( ), and I'm sure they don't feel conflicted about this

Indeed the word scouser is now synonymous with being a chav or pikey. Part of this is maybe our own fault but TV programmes like "Boys From the Blackstuff", "Bread", "Brookside" and, worst of all, "The Harry Enfield Show" perpetuate these stereotypes. Virtually every set of away fans at Anfield sing "Sign On" or "You've Nicked Our Stereo" type songs. I've even seen those sorts of comments on this website from so-called Liverpool fans...

But, hey, so what. I honestly don't give a **** what the rest of England thinks because I don't feel English at all despite my birth certificate saying "Liverpool, England" on it. I feel more empathy with places like Glasgow, Cardiff or Dublin than Guildford, Colchester or Doncaster.

However, my original point (which seems to have been overlooked by everybody apart from Shaggy) was that all genuine Liverpool fans will agree with Rick Parry and not give a **** about the English national team. If you can say, hand on heart, that you'd rather see England win the World Cup or European Championships than see Liverpool win the Premiership or Champions League then I suggest you might be supporting the wrong club...

I totally agree with your last para, RS4. I`m happy to see England do well, but it means nothing to me at the end of the day. I`d rather see the red men bring home the Carling Cup then England win the WC to be honest.

Can anyone remember the time on KT when some **** claimed we should have a Ken Bigley mosaic at Anfield. That post was priceless That really was a step too far in the Scousers against the world theory!

I disagree with much of that paragraph. Personally I don't care about England and would always prefer Liverpool to win even if that were to mean England had to lose every game. I agree with Rick Parry and I can't see how any Liverpool fan could really take umbrage at it (let's remember all he said was that the club's focus is winning trophies rather than preparing players for the English national squad).

However, I don't really think it's right that you determine what all Liverpool fans should believe and I think it's perfectly possible to be a Liverpool fan and an England fan. We're all different mate.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

              Very well put Neil.

I do know a fair amount of Scousers who support England. I know more who say they don't and then once England start having a little run in the tournaments start cheering

Exactly. We saw it with the rugby in 2003 where lots of people who never watch the game, never been to a game in their life, jumped on the England bandwagon

I'm interested to know if we got a day's holiday from winning the World Cup, would RS4 go to work

I'm born & bred scouse and I actually do not like England at all.I don't like the fans, I can't stand the captain or the previous captain & I worry our players will get injured which affects LFC. Club first couldn't give a stuff about country, don't even watch them most of the time because I usually end up throwing stuff at the tele if Gerrard scores, ****ing Gary Gormless Neville, Terry, Fat frank, Once a Blue & Rio ****ing Ferdinand hugging & kissing him pisses me right off

The thing is, England hardly ever play and when they do they are **** so I really don't see why people (men) get so wound up about it.

Some have even said "I hate it when Franlk hugs Stevie when he scores" ffs! How pathetic! It's not up to you - Stevie don't mind, he's proud to lead his country out, and there's not one case of some scouse player saying "I'm not playing for England, I'm a scouser and everyone in the country hates us".

Really, you lot need to listen to yourselves sometimes - big kids!

Do a survey (and get Darren to do the spreadsheet afterwards) in the Salisbury before a Liverpool game and ask the locals what they think about England, Sara...

If you read what I types I said "the majority of the country hate scousers" which I stand by having lived in and visited most parts of England.
